    2) Steering wheels. Space age on 500, holes in 3 spoke design in other prototypes. Side window operational section different. 1st protos had aluminum bumpers. Some suspect the 500 had no headlights, need to find the safety crash picture to see if visible. 500 said Countach in the front grill.

    Four prototypes? Share with us where you get that information please. Its actually not correct.

    The factory's own production register lists the prototypes as follows;

    LP500GT - "Sperimentale'" (Experimental) Giallo Flay.
    LP400 1120001 - "Prototipo" (Prototype) Rosso Corsa.

    Thats it.

    The LP400 prototype was re-painted in Verde Scuro for the 1973 Geneva Salon and remains in that livery today.
    The yellow 1st production (brochure & press car) was in fact a production car which Walter Wolf says went to Farah Diba (although I am also told it went to a most insistent Gianfranco Innocenti by now bored with his 1-year-old Miura SV).

    I would love to see your source or information on 4 different prototype Countachs....

    My question was more than vague I guess... how about....

    1) What were the color(s) of the first four cars called Countach (including prototypes, experimentals, etc)?

    Aahh. You might want to be a bit more specific in your questions because anybody reading your post would clearly think that you thought there were 4 prototypes....and might begin to think the same themselves! Lamborghini history has enough by way of myth without us adding to the folklore. LOL.

    See the registry for a basic answer to your question.

    For the record: Just 2 prototypes, 1 Experimental, 1 Production prototype.

    Speaking of mirrors,,,,,

    Does ANYONE have the December 1978 Road and Track issue with the LP400S test?

    This pic is from Marchet and Coltrin's 1981 book and runs with their reprint of that story. I wonder if is one of the original pictures that ran in that issue and, if so, prove (or confuse) what we know about the mirror use issue.

    This is not one of the pictures from Dec. '78 R&T. The car in R&T has a different mirror. Don't know my mirrors well enought to know which is which.

    Yes. Here are some Joe Rusz photos from page 39 of the December 1978 R&T.

    This car is noted as 1121014 on the Lamborghini Registry.
