Ferrari did not rustproof their cars until some time in 1983 or 4. My GTB has no rust proofing and 30 year old paint and looks great. no rust - I intend to keep it that way (regional concorso Silver award).

Never, though I've been caught out a couple of times. A leaky sunroof and early-60's bodywork are main factors.

I would guess that would not hinder sales at all. Quite a few Ferraris sold at dealerships are shipped to other places anyway. Plus, with a lot of exotics the cars are ordered in on a waiting list anyway, so the car deal does not always hinge on a test drive. I have bought cars before without driving them. The look on the salesmans face at a Ferrari dealer would be funny though if you said you would only buy pending a test drive in the snow. :D

True, I wouldn't be surprised if most new Ferraris were sold without a test drive. My thoughts were on the 328 through 355 at other dealerships. I wouldn't ask for one unless I intended on buying it, with a make or break decision based on the results. With that in mind I'd want to drive it beforehand. Hopefully it wouldn't be snowing at the time ;)

This car was in the shop because it was accidentally driven through some mud puddles. Mud spots were everywhere in the engine bay and it needed a partial dismantling in order to get completely detailed.

If we are out and it rains, well so be it, but generally don't go out if it is raining heavily as the targa top leaks a wee bit too much ;)

However used to have a TVR Chimaera as a daily that got driven all year round. They certainly seem to run better as dailies rather than weekend cars.

Can completely understand why the older cars should not be taken out in the rain though.

I removed my wipers. I suppose that answers the question.

I drove my 355 home in the rain when I bought it! But beyond that...I don't see a need to drive it in the rain again...

I've been caught in the rain a couple of times, but don't venture out when I know it's going to rain.

I've always driven my cars in the rain--whether it was a James Young Bentley with 6 aboard headed for a Palm Springs in a storm or the GTO following the coast towards Monterrey in a sprinkle. Most recently, I had my XJ sedan in a driving desert rain storm in Arizona. No ill effects, but a lot of fun!

Do I drive mine in the rain? Of course not, it'd melt.

I love driving in the rain . Esp that moment when the car grips again and blast away after you corrected your driving line with the steering wheel.

That suede stuff on the F50 dash kinda bubbles up when you get caught in a storm. . . but it dries out back to normal later :)
