Even though Gerhard Berger was contracted to drive for Ferrari in Formula One, nothing stopped him from being the proud owner of a 1986 Countach QV (as well as an LM002, and later an Annivesario too)...which goes to show how the Countach was perceived by some of the world's fastest men. The browns were 'Senape' (beige/light brown), 'Naturale' (tan to you & me) and 'Tabacco' (reddish brown). 1121016 was actually made for factory part-owner Rene Leimer (who off-loaded it on Steve Dypvik before it turned a wheel) and it has the Naturale interior. Joe
I have seen Naturale that looked more brown...maybe it's the way the picture was taken, or a different shade since it looks like it was restored, but I LOVE that color! Get me a MOODY like Gregs for that car and I'll pay crazy money! LOL
Steve Dypvik sold this car to the current owner with 6,000 miles on it (Steve drove 1121014 instead and kept this one stored). I can tell you that this car is 100% original (paint, interior, even the paint on the wheels!). In essence, its a perfect TONY car. LOL. Of course he HAD to go and put QV mirrors on it! Sadly, its not available. Joe
Joe, That 79' LP400S that you told me about is online at the Dupont Registry, the wrong wheels. the wrong mirrors, miss match tires, and an engine room that looks like it was done at Pep Boys. All this for $150,000? This is what I meant when I said people are over paying for the wrong cars.
Agreed, all those items need correcting, then he could ask that number. Bobileff sold the red/white car to Japan for $150k, It was not perfect, but it was not as modified as this one. I think the owner of the above will take an offer..... Joe
The way I like to do things (read: properly, without cutting corners) it will cost me $20k to correct the car. Then its worth circa $150k? I think it represents an excellent and relatively simple project, the mechanicals already having been done. Joe
http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Search/DRauSearchDetails.aspx?itemid=362392 concerning the unappropriate itmes on the car: -mirrors: not a BIG issue, you can find some sebring cheap, or even the bigger square ones -tyres: i know some won't agree, but i don't care about original P7: they are just tooo old to be safe and you can still find new tyres with right dimension and good grip -engine compartment: yes, there are wrong things here: wires, pipes, ecc... but again not that big deal: you can put it right with some patience and money - interior: the ugly speakers have to go: some other money -wheels: that is the BIG porblem: i higly doubt it is possible to find 4 proper BRAVO for it, and IF you will find them, who knows how much you'll have to pay......putting bravo repro could be an idea, but i know i won't ever be happy that way (and i think Tony to ) Tony, when you asked on l-talk if you had to buy your x-79 S1, even if it was not perfect, i said go for it, it is to hard to find one of these for sale in the end i think you did it right with that one this time i am not so sure: as good as it could be it miss proper (ditinctive) wheels so if you, or Joe, have a source for a set of BRAVO it is a car to buy otherwise wait for an other one
