I can't speak for LightGuy, but what makes you think so? All his statements were facts without emotions.
McLaren and Williams seem to disagree. Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost both won WDCs for McLaren while racing each other. Neither of them needed team orders. Same goes for Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill and JV, all in the last 20 seasons.
It is all determined by the circumstances of the season. Even at McLaren, during the late 80´s it was said that at least Honda were giving preferential treatment to Senna. Mansell was complaining of Prost getting better treatment at Ferrari during the 1990-season. During the 1992 season, it was said Patrese helped Mansell along when the occasion to so so arose. Mansell returned the favour at the Italian GP of that season. And Fisichella doesn´t rule out that Renault will seek preferential treatment of one driver in the coming season.
IMO 1. I think Massa will do very well and imo will emerge this season as one of the best and a match for Kimi. 2. I wish MS was still driving, no one has the fire and skills he does. 3. We are going down under for the first race of the new season. Very excited.
I will tell you why. It is because Alonso is a sissy. All I ever see that guy do is cry the moment something bad goes wrong and then blame everything around him. Remember that whole scandal this last season about how he blamed his teammates? Do you ever remember michael doing that? Even through a losing season, at the end of his last race, he went up to everyone on the team and shook their hands. Alonso simply has no heart (sorry to sound like an old boxing movie).
The whining about Senna getting preferential treatment from Honda came from Prost. A driver complaining about his teammate getting favorable treatment, now there's something you don't see everyday in F1. And Mansell complaining? Now there's news. That fat-assed walrus whined more than a mother-in-law...
The point is that it is nothing less than natural that a team concentrates on the driver that has the best shot at getting the driver title.
There wasn't a point to Mclaren using team orders, in the late 80's they were so dominant that it didn't matter. In 1988 Mclaren won every single race of the season accept for one, and the only reason they didn't win that one is because Alain retired due to mechanical problems, and Senna had to pit from a collision on track. The same thing is true of the Williams. Damon and Jacques had by far the best car on the grid. So once again there was no need to institute team orders. Damon just barely won his at the final race in Suzuka because the only threat was his teammate Jacques, who crashed out. Then Jacques won his when once again, the only threat was his own teammate. For some reason Heinz couldn't make use of the car and Jacques took it.
