Time to commit to Tuscany 2007

I did a check on the internet (http://www.italy-bookings.net/hotel/it/hotelraffaellomodena.html?label=2NhWorEn&gclid=CM-5moqTuIoCFScETAod4XHdPg) for the night between the 23 and 24: fully booked.
I fear we are stucked...

OK, I spoke with another hotel, EDEN http://www.eden-hotel.it/, (http://www.italy-bookings.net/hotel/it/hoteleden.html?label=2NhWorEn;sid=ae8525b3cf9956bdf08d6edcd76b5c7a;checkin=2007-06-23;checkout=2007-06-24#topanchor).
They say that they have rooms but that they are going quickly. There is a guarded parking nearby (100 meters) where we could safely leave the cars.
Double room is 75€ per night per couple.
If OK, we just have to book (+39 059 772847).

Ok I'm doing somehting wrong, tried the link, chose a room then it drops out suggesting there are no rooms available? perhaps I'll call!

 

Whats the plan guys - is someone booking all the rooms ?

Or are we each responsible for booking our own room ?

 

I'm waiting to hear from them, I have also contacted the Hotel Executive in Fiorano, Katy and I stayed there a number of years ago, it's about 3km from Maranello

 

Ferrari better organize some good celebrations to justify all this hassle! I think we're missing a point here: what is our role going to be on sunday? Are we simply going to stand in the crowd and watch the vintage / F.1 cars go through? If that's the case I can easily skip this and enjoy a nice drive instead... if you want to thoroughly enjoy vintage cars places like Goodwood or Pebble Beach are far better than standing in a hot sweaty crowd in Maranello (not considering the impossible traffic that we'll inevitably come across). I'm considering my options...

 

OK I'm waiting for final confirmation and price from the Hotel Executive but it looks like they have rooms and I know they have a secure underground car park,if they have i can book them all but I'll need to check their cancellation policy in case we can't get anything to do and we want to redesign the trip!

 

I could be naive, but as I already said to me the important thing is the group of friends.
If something is arranged all together, then I am in.
Mark, act as you deem more appropriate and I will follow no problem.
On another note, I was thinking about a couple of tours during the week in Tuscany. One to Radicofani , one to Arezzo and one to Grosseto.
Distance is 250 - 300 km for the complete tour depending on the route.
This time we should leave the lead to Kevan, it will be a proper Sunday drive (the best of them all...)
I will post the links once I have prepared the itinerary.

OK Heads Up

We can get rooms at the Executive Hotel in Fiorano but I need to book quickly as the Hotel is nearly full

Price is €135 for the room inc breakfast, you will be allocated either a Double room or Suite on arrival ( I suggest the suites are given as a priority to anybody travelling with Children!) there are 7 Suites and 3 Doubles

Are we OK with this? as I have to pay a 50% deposit now which is non refundable

Ok guys I had no choice but to confirm with the hotel tonight, they were running out of rooms so I've booked 10 rooms with them and paid a 50% deposit so we're going

I've asked for garage parking but they've recommended we consider a guard! they are getting back to me with a price

I will over the next gfew days liase with them and see if they can do a nice group dinner or suggest somewhere nice we can go and help with transport, I appreciate we may need to consider the young ones in this plan!

Hey you stole my tour! Radicofani is my specialty - I've been trying for two years to convince the group to follow me to Radicofani, but nobody ever seems to be interested except for Patrick and Simon.

Anyway, I know all the best roads south of Montalcino and around Monte Amiata (don't forget I went back there with Rachel last August), and I can tell you (Eugenio will confirm) that there is NO traffic NO tourists NO dutch campers only beautiful roads on rolling hills, medieval castles, towers and lovely restaurants in the countryside.

Personally I will lead the "hardcore" group - whoever wants to try and follow is welcome (Patrick? ) I'm not one for sunday drives.
