ATABOY! It was between the 348 and a Viper. I almost got the Viper but opted for the 348 because I always wanted a Ferrari as a kid. There are times that I wish I had bought the Viper, and then there are times I'm glad I didn't.
LOL, that wouldn't be when you looked into your shorts, would it? You are so way better off without that lead sled from Detroit. It gets between lights and gas stations pretty well. Other than that it's a nightmare. We had one at the BMW driving school at Willow and the guy nearly crashed it. Even the instructor said it was a handful around the track. Heavy, unbalanced (as are their owners) and only too willing to swap ends in a corner. Then there's that whole issue about not being able to see out of it - at my height I hit the upper windshield frame about 2" above eye level. Good boy ernie, u made the right choice. How many Viper stooges do you know anyway? Hmm, on 2nd thought, forget it...
Hi Angelis. I knew that i wanted a ferrari 348/355 about 5 years before i had the courage to buy one. I kept telling myself that they were impractical and unreliable; and that I wouldnt be able to afford to keep one on the road. I tried to overcome my desire by buying other cars such as a Porsche 996 and a load of other high performance stuff. I even purchased a written off BMW Z3 to rebuild and take my mind off of the car I really wanted. In the end I just couldnt fight the desire any longer.
Well there are two vipers owners in my neighborhood, and one of the owners is pretty handy with a wrench, and he has a Ford Lightning that runs low 12's all day long on drag radials. The Vipers are a handful, but when you get the suspention set up right they are down right brutal. Several years back I got a ride from Paul Mumford, rest in peace, in his Viper ACR at Buttonwillow. Not only did he have that thing dailed in, but MAN could that guy drive!
+1 I was shopping for a 308 with a 328 as my 2nd choice. (the 328 guys are going to roast me for that one) I'd never given the 348 too much thought until I saw one beside a 328. That was the clincher. The lines were way nicer in person than in any picture, especially the F-40 style hood line. Plus I'd always liked the TR's look, and the 348 had better proportions than the big bro.
I was considering another 328. but I drove the 348s and liked them much better. although I wished I would have bought a spyder.
