i personally talk to ferrari store(s) today and they confirmed that pre-cut means already been cut and ferrari will not make the blank ones anymore, period.

they will come " pre-cut (means already-been-cut) " even ferrari store website shows them as "blank" trust me :)

    Greg,

I bought mine about six month ago. I took it to a locksmith in SF and cut it and have been using it on my 360 since then. I am not sure what the current situation is like (the meaning of "pre cut shape") but the description and picture of the key is exactly the same as before. I guess it is wise to talk to Ferrari Store.com before placing an order.

    Chris,

Did the key you received look like the one posted at the Ferrari store when you receiced it?

The one from Wynn Las Vegas had been fully cut and was absolutely useless. The one shown at the Ferrari Store looks like it can be cut.

Can you divulge who in SF cut it for you?

BTW, every time I use my remote now from a distance I think of you. What a great discovery.

Think you may be able to now solve this key dilemma?

I just bought both the Red & Silver Ferrari Keys at the ferrari store online. I'll let you know if they are uncut. Would be nice to use it on my 360, or just to have to go along with my Ferrari Pit Crew Watches.

On those Ferrari Keys on ebay, I would think most Ferrari owners today are a part of this website and see you can buy them from the ferrari store online instead of being misled on ebay about availability and overpaying.

It's not so much the price he's asking but the freight cost that gets me!

$43.50 from LA to SF for a 6 oz item!

Maybe what he has does have the OEM alarm transponder built in, but it's of no value for a 360!

It's funny how he is trying to tell everyone here in this thread that they are not the same, but take a look at his attached picture below, looks like everything decribed from the Ferrari store online.

The one on ebay is the emblem, not the shield.

I was in Italy Jan of this year - went to visit famliy for the new year.

My wife and I were in Rome - walking - run into the Ferrari Store. I look into one of the cases and there it is - Enzo/Stradale Key blank - price 195 Euro's

I already have a cut Enzo/Stradale key for my car - I know they are no longer available but hell, there must be some in this store. I get the staff to open up the drawer- there they are - at least 25 of them. I buy 3 ...at first. I buy another thinking this should last me for any future purchases, I can sell them, yada, yada.

I am proud as hell, I just spent over $2K in the store and my wife asks why I bought so many keys..I tell here I will explain later (my chops are salvating beyond belief for what I found)

I pay, put everything in the bag and skip, skip, skip to the hotel and explain why I bought so many keys to my wife. She is happy as hell and ask " why dont you buy more". I ponder and say..I think I have enough. She says ok.

We arrive at the hotel at 7:00 pm. We are leaving for home the next morning. I start packing. I am so happy I bought all of these keys !!!!!

I get the bright idea to open up one of the keys. OH S H I T!!!!! I cuss like asailor and my wife runs in !!! F you know what. All the friggin keys are cut!!!!!!!!!!!

I am 20 blocks away from the Ferrari store and it is 7:00 pm. Everything in Italy closes and I have $1000 of friggin cut keys !!!!!

I decide to run to the Ferrari store - my wife in tow. I get there at 7:20. They close at 7:30. PHEW !!! Refund - here I come.

I explain and they say no problem- pick something else. I say no- money back is fine. They say no - exchange only in Italy. OK ....

My wife now has a very nice Ferrari hand bag - (Muffler Man can attest) because of my screw up.

Moral of the Story - the Ferrari Store Keys ARE ALREADY CUT. The picture and the ones in the case are uncut....but no available.

    Everyone can start laughing now.

    Mario

Nothing to laug about. You were astute to catch that in time.

The one that came to me from Wynn was made in China! It was precut.

If the unit arrives from Ferrari Store cut, they will eat it.

    I guaranty it!

Does the hand bag at least have a Ferrari emblem?

Why would Ferrari store sell a cut key? What is the point of having a key that is cut already? Would you want to buy a key that is uncut so that you can get it cut for your Ferrari?

Just got this reply to my inquiry:

    Dear Mr. McConnell,

For security reasons we can not sell the uncut keys anymore. We only
sell the pre-cut keys which are shown on the Internet. Pre-cut means that it
is already cut and doesn't fit any particular car.

I hope I have informed you sufficiently with this.

    Kind regards,

I just cancelled my order with them... I indicated that they were falsly representing their product and that they should change the ad before they have mass order cancellations.

When the key arrives and assuming it is a souvenir, you call your CC company and dispute the charge as a "fraud".

I have sent 3 e-mails which have been ignored.

If the key arrives and it's a souvenir, I'll first dispute it and then contact the DoJ, US atty, and Calif Atty Gen.

I guaranty they will quickly learn what bait and switch is!

I would suggest others do the same.

    I can provide the info.

As an aside, I did this about 20 years ago concerning a similar issue with McGraw-Hill. All 3 agencies became involved, and McGraw-Hill changed their tune immediately.

I just emailed them to cancel mine as well. Too bad really, I was looking forward to this. I guess if they give me a problem I can involve American Express as well. They are pretty good about this sort of thing.
