Sultan of Brunei's Car Collection

I must admit that i never saw these in Brunei unless they were in the Sultans garage, which we were not allowed to go.

 

I would imagine that it is the son of the sultan now buying cars, when i was there the rumor was that he would be the worlds first trillionaire, so if this is true then he would be buying cars as he has just a big passion for them as did Jefri and his son Abdul Hakim.

 

If anyone is willing to pay for my air ticket to brunei i would gladly show them where all the cars were.

I think the Vivo's are from the UK garages.

 

The Crown Prince likes his share of exotics very much. He had an Murcie Roadster as a daily driver for about 6-12 months. And before and after the Murcie he's been driving very very cool AMG's. The 599 could be a replacement for the Lambo as a daily driver.

Jefri isn't allowed to buy cars anymore, right? But does he still drive (some of) the cars that he bought?
And where does his son live? in the UK?

 

The Argento Vivo are in USA right now and will be send to Europe soon

The truth is, the Crown Prince still drives the Murcie Roadster often depending on the weather but occasionally changes to older mercedes if the sun doesnt come out. For the "Black" 599 GTB does not belong to the Crown prince, as it belongs to Jefri's other son not Prince Hakeem.

As to Jefri, yes he still buys cars but most of the cars that has been taken away from him of course he wont be able to drive them. But some of which he managed to take it with him to the UK and some of which are already there, probably still drives them around and keeping it under the radar. All i know is that the whole family of Jefri are living in the UK.

FYI, the Sultan is driving the new ML 63 "Black" as his daily car.

This is a normal CLK-GTR on your photos basman, not the Supersport Version.

Well, the bodywork is that of a normal CLK-GTR!
But, noone knows whats under the hood...

The one and only original CLK-GTR-SS (#17/25) was converted in 2002 by AMG!
This version is featured with some small modifications, such as:

- slightly modified rear wing
- modified rear mirrors
- small antenna on the roof
- “supersport” sign on the side
- transparent engine cover

This car was first finished in red/creme and was later repainted to silver with a red interior!

It has a 7,3 liter engine with 720 PS. The standard CLK-GTR engine is a 6,9 liter with 612 PS!

But as i mentioned earlier, noone knows whats under the hood...
For example:
#03/25 is owned by Bin Sulayem.
His car is also equiped with that 7,3 liter engine but retains the original bodywork!
So it is possible that this particular CLK-GTR is another one which was equiped with the “Supersport” engine...
But it isn’t the original Supersport!

Thanks for the great info. I never really knew what the exterior differinces between the SS and the normal CLK GTR were.

So, the Brunei car is obviously not the one and only SS. But I'm pretty sure it has the 7,3 Litre AMG engine, just like Bin Sulayem had put in his car. I think they ordered it with that engine, just like they ordered all those other MB's with 7,3 litre AMG engines. So this one was probably made before the SS-version in 2002??

BTW do you know the chassis number of the ex-Brunei car?

Thank you for the link to the Rarete-page, but I've allready checked out the entire thread some time ago The pics give a really good view of the car, but that Mythos is the concept car and not one of the Brunei cars.

But whenever it comes to presentations of special limited cars, the Sultan is/was always one of the first buyers!
So I think it is one of the first CLK-GTR's

The other son would be Prince Baja (bar har) he was the one who had allthe yellow cars with red interiors.

Prince Hakeem now resides at the Dorchester in London as Jefri owns it.

Spotted the white F40 in Hong Kong a few days back. Unless there is more than one RHD white F40..................

 

I believe ALL RHD F40s were made for Sultan. Pininfarina/Ferrari did not make other special request RHD F40.
