Hi all. What do you think of my new F50 - in orange/black?? I'm going to paint the seats as well, need to buy some paint first. The car used to be red, it has been painted with 3 layers of orange from a spray can - it also has been sprayed with 3 layers of clear finish. The red you can see in a couple of pix needto be taken care of with a tiny, tiny brush. Also note, the logos are back on - and the emblem has NOT been painted. The intirior, wheels, intakes, grill (front/back), intakes in the hood, headlights, mirrors and those two behind the head was painted with model paint. Project took 3 days. It costed me 10 buckz. Hope you like it. Paul www.SuperCarCrash.com
Since you asked, it looks like a Halloween Chariot. Paint the seats. Red no good. The work looks nice though!!! Luke.
Hi, thanx hmmm Good quiz, maybe because I've seen Ferrari in SO many different colours but never orange only the Diablo VT 6,0 and the Murcie - besides, I belive orange and black make a great combo. I'm also planing of do a F40 next week with light green metallic. I was hoping to paint the F50 with orange metallic, but they were sold out. metallic paint is also very difficult to work with because its so very "floatable" Paul www.SuperCarCrash.com
Hey Luke Yes, I'm gonna do the seats - no doubs about that. I'm out of paint. Paul www.SuperCarCrash.com
355 Spider Man, you are the man. I have always wanted to do that, is that a hand made one of special 355 challenge car. What is it based on A UT or HW? Where did you get the decals from.
Hey, thanx a lot. Orange is basicly a very cool colour on these cars. I liked your F40 and 360. very nice. I've got two more F50's today - silver hardtop and GREEN hardtop. Paul www.SuperCarCrash.com
A few questions to those of you who repaint the model cars: How do you take off the decals from the original model without damaging them?? Is there a way to do it correctly?? If you have to replicate the decals, how is this done?? Can I do it using a home computer and laser printer??? What materials do I need to purchase?? Thanks VK
Hi there. I'll try to help you as good as I can here.... How I remove the decals?? to be honest, pure luck - they are V E R Y thin and fall very easly apart. But what I did on my orange F50 (see post called "My new F50 makeover") I used a VERY small screwdriver, I used a razor blade on my Countach, but with razor blade you can easly cut and ruin the decal. So use a small screw driver and just slice it backward and forward, like the way you cut bread. You WILL cut the old paint, but youre gonna use primer anyway. So just hold your breath and use bright light and start cut - maybe you get lucky. I dont have or have never used replicats, I'm not sure where you can buy them. Using laser printer - I have NO idea, but if you're gonna try please lrt me know how it turnes out. Materials: On the main body I used car paint from a spray can - I'll post a pic here soon to show you the first layer of paint. All the small parts, wheels, lights, mirrors ect. was painted with brush and with model paint. Hope this helps you a bit. PS:Bburago is VERY detailed and more difficult to take apart - my F50 was a Maisto and more easy to work with. Paul wwwSuperCarCrash.com
Actually I forgot whether my F50 was a Maisto or not. But anyway, they all need some small screwdrivers and a few pliers to rip the glued sections apart. Mostly not a big deal, but you have to line up the screws you take off so you know afterwards where they belonged too. And obviously you need to glue some stuff back together.
You basicly dont need so much tools, just a small screwdriver. If you're gonna repaint the ENTIRE car like I did, then you need to remove the emblem on the rear grill, try to use a small...hmmm...I dont know what you call it in English, but if I say its a tool that works exactly like a nutcracker jus alot smaller of course. Get it?? use a pointy one and try to brake the "welding" on the inside of the grill so you can remove the emblem. Do the same with the taillights...you probably have to glue them back on. If you gonna paint the inside of the headlights and the intake: Open the hood, and you'll see that the plastic which keeps up the intake and lights are welded on 4 places, put the screwdriver in between the plastic and the hood and TURN/TWIST the screwdriver, (NOT bend) very gently on each side and you'll see that the plastic is working its way throug the metall pin in the hood. The welding in the hood is not so stong as it might look, just be carefull because it need to fit when you're gonna put it back together. Turning signal lights: just push them out from the BACKSIDE,maybe you need to glue them back on. The emblem in the front: I just painted around it without remove it, too small to deal with. Hope this helps! (WOW....almost like an walkthrough Paul
You mean tweezers. My tip: Lay out all the screws and tiny pieces you take off the car on a high and safe book shelf. I normally end up loosing something like a mirror or turn signal in the proces...
Hi Andreas, how are you this morning? If you look at the pic - then you know what tool I meant. (LOL....nutcracker...I was probably waaaay off) Paul
