Consider cost, performance, production and sound quality.

I am trying to decide which to put in my '90 348TB.

Capristo is out, it just looks silly.

I bought a Tubi before X-ost came to town. My friend and f-chat user Henkie bought an X-ost last autumn. I also had great faith after some very enthusiastic posts in this thread about X-ost.
The X-ost sounds great, you won't regret it. BUT a Tubi sounds just a bit better, especially in the high-rpm-region.

As for the money, it's well spent on an X-ost but you will always have a nagging thought: I could have had a Tubi.

Best advide: go and listen to cars, then decide.

P.S. If you're in Europe, this might interest you. Henkie traded in his 348 TB (with the factory exhaust) for a beautiful 360 modena. The X-ost is sitting on a shelf, he only drove a couple of hundred km's with it.

Capristo has totally redesigned their 348 exhaust so it does not show below the bumper. They have a standard exhaust at level 1 and a "twin sound" exhaust at level 1 with the valves closed and level 3 with the valves open. Candellara posted this on another forum:

    http://www.allaboutmedia.de/capristo.de/bild.php?aW1hZ2VzL3Byb2R1a3RhYmJpbGR1bmdlbi9oZWNrYW5zaWNodC96b29tLzM0OHR3aW4uanBn

Hope this link works - this is the "twin sound" with remote control exhaust valves

    and the new standard system:

For the 348, Tubi is the best marriage, just like the Capristo is for the 355's and 360's.
I've put a Tubi on all 4 of my 348's, and the sound is purely incredible, you will think it's a F1 car.

Honestly, I think you'll be happiest with the Tubi. It's the standard to which all others are held.

The heirarchy of the three for the 355 IMO . :)

I had a Tubi on my 355. The X-ost is virtually indistinguishable. The Capristo sounds different (higher, more metallic sound).

The X-ost on the 348 sounds fantastic.

I'm not getting into this debate as I think all my comrades are right....you can't loose with either but if your going for real sound improvement add a set of Hyper Flow cats ($2000) or test pipes ($700) w/ one of the exhausts you mentioned.
You need the dynamic duo - to make it just right.

I would be curious to know how the stock exhaust sounds with just the addition of the Hyper Flow cats.

Virtually no difference. I have done this on my GTC, OK I am not running Hyperflow cats, but I have 100 cel X-Ost Sport Cats which *should* be even more free flowing than the Hyperflow units as they are 200 cel.

Basically you need a sports exhaust for sound IMO, but you need free flow cats for power.

I think mine measure 96 DB with sport cats and the loudest 348 was one with a Tubi, De-cat and BMC air filters. The air filters seem to make a big difference changing the low end to more like an X-Ost but still with the Tubi shriek.

If it was my money (I haven't heard the cap yet) I'd go for Tubi, De-Cat (if legal) and the BMC air boxes - awesome sound. On the move - unbeatable. Look around for the vids/comment on our 348 run we have a few weeks back.

I have Capristo with no cats on my 348. The sound is incredible. Everyone loves the sound. It's less throaty than a Tubi, and builds up to a feverish pitch as the revs increase. Even at idle, the sound is fantastic (especially after the engine has some heat in it)

Downside is an annoying "drone" if you're crawling around at 2500-2800rpm. Time to drop a gear. Also a 3 hour drive will leave you with a minor ringing in your ears.

Otherwise it's pure music. I managed to listen to half a song on the stereo before I shut it off. That was 15,000km ago.
