it seems the locals daniel and lolaman would have the least trouble with arranging accomadations. perhaps we need a poll to establish the date. then we can find if the hotels are available.

Daniel and Lolaman, are you interested in heading this up for us? many of us, even thought farther out of town, are willing to assist.

Birdman, Thank you for getting this off the ground, we all hope that once we have a date, we-all hope you will find time in your schedule to attend.

No "Uh oh"s. Or at least I hope not.
Think of what we would be missing....

an opportunity to photograph/document many years of the car, rims, bumpers, etc. And, what a wonderful opportunity to record the exhaust note of assorted exhaust systems and carbed/injected models and then post them for all to hear.

    And then there's the comradery.....

    No "Uh oh"s

Hi guys, I get married on March 18th. My honeymoon will take me out of the country for a week, other wise I am willing and able to step up and help out with this. Obviously it cannot be done by 1 man alone. I will head things up, coordinate with Daniel and Lolaman and try and get things done. I have a promotional designer that I work with daily and can come up with 308 Festival logo items such as frisbess, stickers, lapel pins, Tshirts, whatever. I work with the guy and he will give me his cost on these items just to help out. I will need help getting the location in concrete. I think we should be on our own as far as the hotels go, but just to have a place to gather and have a party, and a bunch of crazy 308 owners. Let me know what you think. Call me or PM me here....

I will be in Lumberton this weekend, semi close to the locations on the floor, and would be happy to stop by and do legwork for the group

we need a head count. you can't get much info from the hotel if you can't tell them when you're coming and how many. realisticly, we're gonna need more than a month or two to put this to bed so an april or may date might be a stretch. could someone make a poll for the date. staying at the same hotel seems integral to the event. we're basically spending one day together. commuting may create unnecessary stress.

Boy, this thing just died and fell off the edge of the earth after Birdman resigned.

I would love to chair this event except the it moved, by popular vote, completely out of my area of the country.

Are we just forgetting the whole thing now or what?

Have we just found our new chairman? :). Last I checked we were still talking about something south of the Mason-Dixon.

Well if I run it we are doing the Dragon. No point in it being me for an event way north from me, that should be handled by someone up there. Seeing that there were 10 interested, we could probably squeeze 4 from it and with me that would make 5. That may sound like a rather small number but I have been involved in FCA events since 92 and speaking from first hand experience, 30% turnout from the original list of folks saying they will participate is just about average. For a big regional event it's different, but not for a grass roots style get-together like this.

Anyone interested or should I just forget the whole thing?

it seems logistics have killed the event. driving twelve hours is a very daunting experience. we put together a little panhandle soire' last october. it took us like six months to plan and promote. the turnout was ok but the determining factor for its success was no one had to drive more than two hours. i'd still like to try the dragon though, as it's an eight hour drive. perhaps in the fall.

I personally will drive up to 12 hours for the event, assuming I can make it. I don't see what the big deal is. A 12 hour drive in a Ferrari sounds like a blast. I am 100% confident that either of our fcars will make it without a hitch. The problem is that organizing something like this is a lot of work and I just don't have the time this spring. In fact, I'm leaving on business next friday for 10 days. I will be at sea, no internet in sight....pretty hard to organize an event from there! We need someone to step up to the plate and take the lead on this.

I don't want to take away from the East Coast gathering and will try to make it if it happens but I would definitely like to do the Dragon also.

Ok guys, its time to put this together, we have a great start and need to make the next step.

Do we need a new chair person?

Can we list two possible locations for the event, and have a vote on one?

Once we have a location, we can select a date, we need to progress if we want it before it gets too hot out.

I would be happy to assist who ever would like to chair this, or will chair the event if others agree, I do live about 400 miles south of the proposed area in Jacksonville, but will be happy to meet with local car owners and decide on a location if necessary.

this is the defintive post for any decision as to locales. as far as boots on the ground; lolaman is in the raleigh/durham area. as for a date, since we may be requiring up to ten rooms, time is dwindling. the weekend before memorial day is usually underbooked.

As I mentioned before, I organize an annual event, so I have some experience with this. I would organize it if it were within 100-150 miles of NYC.

I will be willing to assist in organizing, or will organize if no one else is able to.

We need to establish a location, then set a date.

Without re-reading 546,781,843,065 posts about this can someone remember the top three locations so far in the northern area? Let me know and I'll start a poll thread with that , after a week or so I'll shut it down and do a date poll. Then after a week or so shut it down and call to block some rooms. A Holiday Inn Express is fine with me unless it's not fancy enough for the rest of you. Something affordable is all we need to sleep and shower for a night or two. This isn't a FCA National meet. Next year or the next as it grows (which I hope it will) We can upgrade, for now we need to keep it simple and easy as possible to see how it goes the first time.

Any problems with this plan? It's time to **** or get off the pot. What do ya'll say?

    Walt,

I have been trying to keep the flame going and have sent many off line e-mails trying to offer assistance to the event, or with assistance, I would manage/coordinate the event.

I would love to do this event and I am available to view areas in northern North Carolina and get this off the ground. We need East Coast and/or southern Ferrari owners and those interested in Ferrari's interest brewing.
