Would that rent price include the water, electric and such? The restaurant options in Vegas are great to have (as well as the entertainment).

Sounds like the cost of living are pretty close in both cities. Ryan, your heading back to Vegas next year, correct?

DFW is a great city for someone in the hospitality industry. I've did about 5 years in that industry, and my father had a great career in the hotel business. Lots of high end hotels and all the things mentioned above that make Dallas Fort Worth so great.

Exactly what is your goal? GM of a large luxury hotel? Own your own some day? Become CEO of a chain? In that industry you need a plan, and try to stick to it, or it will eat you alive, and your family for dessert. :)

I believe the 3-series has the highest rate of repossession among cars.

Reality Check: if you are going into hotel management as an entry level supervisor or manager, you will not spend many waking hours at home. get the cheapest clean apartment you can find as close to your job as possible! You won't waste valuable time commuting after working 18 hour days. :)

Goal: Own my own business within the food & beverage industry. I do enjoy the hotel business, but my real interest in the F & B sector.

Just curious, what are the "chic" restaurants and bars?

Also, what role does Fort Worth play in the metroplex? My family lives around Trophy Club.

West of downtown Ft Worth, the Cultural district is undergoing a huge expansion. Hotels, luxury condos, more fine dining restaurants, along with a light rail plan running from downtown is in the works. All of this within minutes from the convention center & Sundance Square.

Everyones definition of Tarrant County is different, keep in mind it expands quite far to the east Arlington, TX will have a NFL team in 2009, I think I’ll call them the TARRANT COUNTY COWBOYS. Lots of opportunity to made over there as well. The whole area is growing faster than the city can build & maintain the roads. For the business you want to be in, I’d look around the HEB area (Hurst-Euless-Bedford) & the drive from that area will not be as bad as compared to North Dallas if you choose to be around the DFW airport area.

If you want learn more, just take a quick glance.

Arlington, TX should have a real base to draw from, with the two pro stadiums/teams and Six Flags. Nice area as well. I haven't seen pictures/drawings of the new Cowboys stadium, but hopefully they create a great piece of beauty (note: No UFO-looking stadium like the Cardinals have).

I only went to Ft. Worth two times or so (Stockyards to be specific, great BBQ). Seems like a nice area as well. To be exact, where is Tarrant County (do not know much about the counties)?

Cool. Thanks for the information. I'm open to all options in the DFW area. What's the driving time from Ft. Worth to Dallas?

Depends on how fast you drive & traffic flow, I'd say about 35 minutes+ on average on I-30.

Thanks for all the information (feel free to add any more).

The biggest concern I have is that I do have a speech impediment in terms of being hard to understand (if you need more information Tim, I will be happy to PM/e-mail you), mostly with meeting people for the first time (as people do understand me clearly over time).

Texas is looking better and better. Spend 2+ hours this afternoon plowing a small driveway in drifting, windy snow.

Do you receive any snow at all? I know you get the occassional ice storm (which I am guessing melts away over the next two or three days?).

We generally get one or two ice storms per year... sometimes coupled with a dusting of snow.

It usually melts within a day or two.

Westworld, please note that we close the Metroplex until all the strange white stuff goes away. It's best to keep a supply of DVDs and frozen pot pies handy for these natural disasters. We've seen up to 2 inches of snow on some occasions!
