Hi, does anyone here play stocks or has a significant amount in stocks? I would like to know your opinions of certain approaches. As of now, I think I can set aside 3-4 thousand dollars for investment. Should I invest in undervalued large caps/bluechips, or riskier/small/growth stocks? Should I be aggressive or conservative? also do you believe that the market is efficient or not? Is value investing the way to go? Or building castles in the air? I am 18 and dream of ferrari ownership someday. Your replies would be greatly appreciated.
all it costs is 15 bucks, but the ideas i've gotten there have made me much more, it's definitely a good idea to subscribe.
agreed with the above - lots of good stuff in the subscribed section PS - stay out of the market for the next few months
The worldwide stock market is in a decline. You can make some money from that. Anyway, I invested when I was 17 - under my dad's name, because you had to be 18 - and within 18 months, i had almost quadrupled my money. Did I have losing days? Yep. I lost $400 the first day and worried like a *****, but I learned from my mistakes and did well eventually. I got out in favor of real estate, which is more tangible and which I like a lot more. Read the Nicolas Darvas book, though. I hadn't at the time, but my investing was basically along the lines of his.
i think the point is the OP sounds green and now is not a good time to try and learn the market. Im sure many of us do very well in a down market shorting but he should sit by the sidelines for now as calling this bottom is a foolish
