I would like Van Halen fans to know how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Without you there is no Van Halen.

I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. That’s why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.

Some of the issues surrounding the 2007 Van Halen tour are within my ability to change and some are not. As far as my rehab is concerned, it is within my ability to change and change for the better. I want you to know that is exactly what I’m doing, so that I may continue to give you the very best I am capable of.

I look forward to seeing you in the future better than ever and I thank you with all my heart.

Nah... he's extremely wealthy and has been living it up in Vegas for a long time. Then he had a radio show. Definately no riches to rags story there...

I saw them live in Calgary back in the mid 80's when DLR was the front man and they were in their prime, 10 rows back from the stage right in front (it was a $24 ticket....ah those were the days eh ?).

I can still remember the scene when they played "You Really Got Me" for their encore, absolutely electrifying !!!!..............it was the greatest concert that I have ever seen in my life, even better than the Rolling Stones live on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro last year.

I'd love to see them come to Canada........and I might even fly to the US to see them if this happens.

Van Halen to announce reunion details Monday

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - David Lee Roth and his former bandmates in Van Halen will officially announce their reunion during a news conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles next Monday, according to their representatives.

"Come witness rock history as Van Halen makes an announcement of monumental proportions," said a media alert e-mailed on Wednesday by concert promoter Live Nation.

Roth will be present at the 11 a.m. PDT announcement, along with Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen and his older brother, Alex Van Halen, the band's drummer.

It will not exactly be a reunion of the classic lineup famed for such hits as "Panama" and "Running with the Devil," because bassist Michael Anthony has been replaced by Eddie's 16-year-old son, Wolfgang.

Roth and Van Halen were supposed to hit the road earlier this year for a reunion tour, but plans fell through when Eddie Van Halen entered rehab in March for undisclosed issues. His illness also scuttled a potential reunion at the group's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction later that month.

Roth, 52, quit Van Halen in the mid-1980s, during the band's heyday, in hopes of attaining solo stardom. Those dreams crashed, and Van Halen continued successfully with Sammy Hagar on vocals.

The band's luck ran out a decade later when Hagar and Van Halen acrimoniously parted ways, and a new album with a third singer tanked. Since then, both Roth and Hagar have briefly aligned with Van Halen, and the two singers even toured together, despite Roth's barely concealed enmity for Hagar.

Oh man I'm excited. The final show is in Calgary, how great is that?

 

Saw them during the Diver Down Tour (think it was '82) with DLR , and during the Balance Tour with Hagar in '95. Both shows were amazing!!!

However, without M. Anthony, it ain't right. Plus, too many years have gone by...and it just ain't the VH of yesteryear.

 

That is awesome.....Ticketmaster doesn't have any info yet.....but I am going to buy 2 front row spots if I can.

 

You may want to wait and see if there going to keep it together for a while first. Are they coming out with an album or anything? Or, is this just a "We're old, it sounds like a great idea and besides we need dough! Tour."

 

I'm going to call this the "Don't Hold Your Breath Tour 2007", so let's see what happens. Btw, no stop in Texas, that is very wrong on so many levels.

 

Kinda like the Police? No Album, but lets get together for some extra Dough.
