I wish he would make straight replacement 3.2 lightweight front and rear bumper replacements, hood, bonnet and trunk. It would save over 100 pounds. The Z-man really looks to make a superb product.

I would also definitely be up for that, so if moulds were made you would have two customers straight away, Hint Hint;)

I might be persuaded when my 3rd car arrives (see below), however, I would not be interested in making an exact copy (anyway do you know how hard it is to get those light clusters!) but trust me the results would be good.

I would be interested in a bumper that has the valance all built in like on more modern Ferrari's 348 etc..., but as I said before nothing to modern, I still want the car to look like an 80's car

Just changing the bumpers front & rear will never stop it looking like an 80s car...

I know what you are saying Clive, but I have seen a couple of Mondials with 355 bumpers, and as you pointed out before they are too rounded at the front on a straight edged car.

I would even be happy with a pair of lightweight colour coded bumpers similar to the 3.2 or T

The 355 bumpers emphatically don't fit. However it is possible to make something similar to the 355 bumpers that would look correct with the lines of the car.

Is it possible to work out a price for a pair, I am sure once the moulds were done there would be more than one buyer

OK, when I get a moment I will work out a rough cost.

As you will have been able to surmise from earlier posts there would be a substantial investment in time to design the bumpers and the moulds need to be soildly built to turn out the best parts. Ideally therefore, I would like to see a few more indications from people that they would be interested. Obviously the more people that express an interest the more viable the idea becomes and the cheaper the bumpers sets would cost (spreading the cost of the moulds more than anything else).

I realise that no-one would commit without having an idea what the end product looked like (trust me they would be in keeping with the overall Pininfarina design), I am just asking for a simple expression of interest.

So Pete, your mission, should you choose to accept it, would be to canvass the Mondial community for such interest as may exist...

This is what the Monzer's bumpers look like:

Clive you're either a genius or a lunatic, and the outcome of this project will decide which side you fall on!

Of course, given the $$$ you've already spent I'm sure your wife has already picked the latter. :D

A very thin and permeable line between the two my friend...

    Yep!
Actually she keeps saying that I said I was only going to change the bumpers. Ironic really.

I totally agree, I don't want to be the first and bear all the costs and then its cheaper for all after me:)
Definitely will do, as soon as theres a roughish price for the mould and then for the first set of bumpers I will start a thread up

    I would be interested.

Would they be a replica of the silver ones posted above.

    pretty nice.

Also would they be bolt on, or will there be preliminary work that needs to be done.

Any slight change I do, I always keep the original peice so if I sell I can easily revert the car back to original, or at least they will have the options to.

    Example:

Painted mirrors to match car - I bought new mirrors.
    Steering Wheel - Kept Original
    Shifter - Kept Original
Wheels - Kept all the originals and the tires.
Ferrari Badges - Magnets that easily come off.
New Sound System - tastfully installed and hidden componants all in original holes and all original equipment in storage.
    ETC... you catch my drift.

It would be great for us if we can do the same with the bumbers, I actually have the front bumber of at 89 mondial but am still missing pieces for it. Lights, grill, bottom spoiler, anyone know where to get that stuff.

I would rather just invest in this, if it happens.

    Ok, I've thought about this.

I will look at making front & rear bumpers that can be changed back to original, i.e., no angle grinding necessary (I believe that to fit the 3.2 rear bumper onto the 8 or Qv you have to chop off the lower sheet metal that is below the bottom of the boot). The bumpers will use (as far as possible) the existing mounting points. At the front, the lower spoiler will need to be taken off (only bolted-on anyway).

I will take the rear bumper lower than the Euro valance to hide the exhaust and give a cleaner look. This will also comply with US requirements for an exhaust shield.

They will follow the existing lines of the car and be recognisably "Ferrari". The front will have a full width lip spoiler and the rear will echo the front with a similar but smaller lower lip. Regarding US front bumpers, can someone with a 3.2 tell me how high the 2 sections are for the "piston" shocks?

    Aux. lights.
I will be using Hella 50mm round lamps front (side & turn) & rear (fog) and Hella round driving lamps for the front flash/driving lamps.

...and no, I haven't had time to sketch anything.

Clive, put me down as an interested party. This is the reason I asked you about the foam, it was my intention to build front and rear bumpers but to use the original side lights etc.
You may be able to save me the job.
