i think i saw plate "5" on a holden ute today. is that possible??????
Maybe I have no idea what I am talking about; but it certainly looked like there was a lot of money being thrown around at some very average stuff in both cars and number plates. Time will tell as always!
Some heritage plate "owners" find it amusing to put big $ plates on their mundane cars. The price disparity is amusing to those who know the market I suppose.
say that again. But so many are now experts, investors. For that sought of money you can buy, quality 18th century silver or a nice piece of Victorian furniture like a burr Walnut card table or a sutherland table.I'm talking piece for under $2,000.
i'm glad u said i love that instead of something else..........otherwise i would be looking for another chair
frankly, i agree!! if i had the $ to blow on a $kkk plate i'd find great self-satisfaction on putting it on an '81 GH Sigma, my first car. it was a dream of mine as a kid (before i had a job) to deliver pizzas in a Ferrari. when i get my first Ferrari, within a few weeks i'll apply to be a pizza delivery driver for at least 2 days a week for at least a few months. i have to tick this one off. edit: as i've mentioned, the biggest mis-match i've seen so far is plate [ 13 ] on a mid-90s honda civic driven by a crazy old bat in her 80s... surely that's a joke on the rest of us...?
Im quite sure 13 on a vic plate is on a vn berlina and and 70 something or perhaps its 131 on a vn calais at a auto parts wholesaler in the inner east of melbourne.
Vicroads had a few stands hawking number plates at the F1 GP over the weekend. Looks like they are well and truly cashing in on the heritage plate market. Now they are "inventing" heritage plates that never existed in the first place. They had some plates that are coming up for auction/tender in the near future. One of them was # "0" which is obviously a single digit plate; but it never existed when the plates were originally issued in the early 1900's. The first plate was # "1" which was held for use by the Government and they went numerically from there. Now single digit plates are mega, mega $$ as everyone probably knows by now. This plate is being offered by tender in April/May apparently. At face value you might think it is very valuable; but it has zero provenance and is total marketing BS. Now # "1" is worth something in the 7 figure range and # 2-9 probably similar money. What's # "0" worth?? No idea; but I wouldn't buy it. FWIW triple digits in the low #100's are now comfortably north of $100k.
I've seen a few **** cars with expensive plates on them.. I really don't get #51 on the toyota camry.. Ohh well, good for them
Slightly different situation in Qld. A few years ago, some woman presented Q "0" plate, stated it was her late fathers, and wanted it re-issued. No record of it was found, so they are still arguing it out.... I tried to purchase the prestige plate QO no luck. they locked off the combination "due to pending legal action" Nice What are 2 numerals making ?
Scott I agree with you...obviously the value of heritage plates is in their history/age Inventing #0 is no different than issuing 'euro plates' IMO.
