Wow - talk about "buying right!" There's something going on there - stories, mechanical issues, salvage title, cash emergency... Looks like a nice car. What other details do you have?
I called the previous owner he said he needed the money to move out. The car has 35,500 miles. That wheels looks sharp!
The headlights look weird - like they're sticking too far up. I guess I'm the minority opinion, but I think the wheels would look better on an Escalade than a Ferrari.
For the selling price of the car, you could completely GUT the interior, re-upholster every stitch of leather in the car, carpets, headliner, dash, etc. and STILL have come out ahead. You could add $4,500 in major service, with new belts/bearings/tensioners, and STILL come out ahead. You could add a valve jub on top of that, new hoses, and perhaps STILL come out ahead......You would need to spend more than $18,000 to NOT break even. A Resale-Red 328 GTS with under 39K on the clock is heading north of $50,000 on today's market - so says FML, FCA Newsletter, and some chatters who post on FerrariAds. If the title was clear and there wasn't any accident/rust history, this was a FANTASTIC deal. The ad says you get the original rims, too....somebody would pay $$$ for those fancy dubs, so the next owner can recoup cash from the deal right-away......
its all paint and chairs...im sure it needs another 20k in service, between front end, ball joints, control arms, rubbers, alinment...pads, who knows what else it needs. But the word cheap and ferrari dont coexsists.
I missed one a year and a half ago... Lowish miles, red/tan, recent service in chicago... Talked to the service dept that did the work, said it seemed like a good car... 32,500....he just wanted rid of it, missed it by just a few minutes Once every couple of years seems to be the "time frame" on these cars.... oh well,...I wish I was rich
Too bad that seems like a good deal. Sure seems like some unknowing buyer will think this is the "true" market price for these cars, and either become disillusioned when they try & purchase one, or try to use this price as a negotiating price. From the photos & the Vette's in the backgroud this must have been some kind of car show/event....I'll bet the Vette guys think less of the true value of these cars after this "sale" Just my 2cents
Alot of people don't want to wait the several months it takes to sell a car. Seems alot of stories about people getting into these things that can't afford it too. If you need the money now 30k would get you it.
Probably true - you can dump a car fast if you need the cash. I'm curious about the history, though. Again, it looks like headlights might have been reinstalled incorrectly at some point. Still, for $30K, it's hard to lose even if the engine goes bang.
All true, but you don't know what else might be wrong. I would guess for that price the owner was desperate for cash, and Ferrari owners desperate for cash probably don't maintain their cars as well. Still, for $30K, it could need a new engine and the buyer wouldn't be upside down it.
If the car is being advertise at a car show where people can take a closer look, hear it run, or even take it for a test drive, then it must be a good car don't you think? I personally would not bring a lemon to a car show specially a car show that surrounded by other exotic cars.
A lot of those things mentioned before could be wrong with a $50K car also. Paying a lot does not ensure a trouble free car. At $30K you at least have some reserve for the unexpected.
exactly. Often people assume that if it's cheep it needs everything. If it's expensive and has some reciepts then it needs nothing. You can pay 30k and spend 20k more easily. You may pay nothing though and get a few years of driving in with no or little repairs. You may pay 50k and still spend 20k more easily. You may pay nothing though and get a few years of driving in with little or no repairs. A well sorted and well documented car is ideal but you pay for it up front. Buy a car with not as many reciepts for less and sometimes you'll pay less even in the long run.
Nice car. Outstanding for the price. I agree, Pitch the Bling, the car would look better if the wheels were on an Esclade or Crown Vic, put the originals back on her!
This car was at the Ford "Crystal Cove" weekly Saturday morning event here in Orange county ( if you want to see the best cars in the world this is it on any given weekend). I looked at the car and tried to find the owner to ask some questions but could not find him. The car is good from far but far from good. The car is not a keeper but with a little TLC could be a nice driver if the maintenance is up to date. I did watch him pull in and it sounded OK, at least it runs!!
