I had planned on it but... when his foot slipped off the clutch, he rammed my door into the inside of the truck and I changed my mind!

I was going to start a thread on this; the XJR is being delivered in less than 2hrs from now from Florida.

The driver is going through extra efforts to get the car here around 10pm tonight. Today was the delivery day. He had a front tire blow out in Las Cruces and was stranded and swapped rigs with another from Phoenix that was unladen so he could continue on and make it tonight. He's also been very communicative throughout today.

I will be offering a tip. He's earned it.

Atlas Van Lines moved our household stuff and PF coupe in December of 1975 from Maryland to Seattle. The driver encountered a full-on, white-out blizzard on I-70 in Wyoming, had the truck into a jack-knife, but managed to pull it out and continue on. He stuffed shipping blankets on both sides of the car and rubbed the paint off the sides, so we had to repaint it. I gave him $50.

Tip? How about an invoice for the clutch wear from him slipping the clutch at 7k RPM for 5 minutes, trying to park my car in his rat infested carrier?

Still gives me nightmares... luckily it was a car I just sold. Pitty the new owner!

Well that was the point of this thread. I hoped it would help someone else. I just didn't realize how quickly it would....

Another issue, Passport Transportation, but I will start a thread regarding them and my opinion in hopes of helping anyone else that needs to ship a car / auto.

Last time I had a car delivered by Intercity (I've never used any other company), I offered to tip the driver, but (to his credit), he said he was paid very well by the company, and refused to accept any tip.

Are the majority of these carriers any good, there seems to be a good number of incidents involving the cars: scratches, dink and dents, etc. Can you really trust a car carrier with your car anymore?

Same here...'course, this was way back, before the web, email wasn't even very common, so no known(to me) standards.

Today, maybe I'd do it differently(and, maybe not).

Its much appreciated! :) 10:25pm they rolled up to deliver and everything to do with the car itself was done gingerly. I gave him a hundred and from his reaction it made his night and mine as well, allowing me to hit up smog and DMV first thing in the AM and then over to the mechanics for mechanical conditioning. It was $800 to ship exposed and took 9 days. Not a single mark on the car, just dirty. I wasn't going to pay $600-800 on top of that amount to ship enclosed being a detailer and having a 0 dollar deductable for any damage during shipping which was still less expensive. :)
