The engine and gear box will not have the same number since they were built on different lines. The way I think it works is ferrari builds the engine and gearboxes and whatever number winds up in whatever car is how it works. Then the engine and gearbox numbers are recorded connecting them to that particular car. Im not sure that right from the time the engine is cast they know what chassis number it will end up resting in until either the time they mate them or shortly prior to it.
considering it a hand punched designation, it would be simple enough to punch the numbers when the assy is together with car and keep it homogeneous.
When I was attempting to get a certificate on my first car, I amost gave up. No matter how many times, or how many ways I entered the data, I got that same response. Someone gave me some advice and I ran with it. The second car was far easier to do, once I knew how. Enter all information in the fields on the owners site and submit it. Send them an email, including your screen name and password, and the entire number sequence for each unit, F106ABXXXXX for chassis, as an example, etc.. They will email you shortly to confirm or deny, and if confirmed you will have a link to a pdf file in your garage to it. You can then download the pdf file and print it.
The Heritage Certificate comes and goes on the Factory Site.... As mentioned above the 308 components are not 'numbers matching'......so they are all over the map....... I'd agree with 91tr the canned response is the way of saying "we cannot be sure" in Italian........ If I remember I'll climb around on mine and post examples...
