What experiences have Ferrari owners had with various pads?
    Dust? Bite? Fade? Wear?

Tirerack offers Hawk and Gransport. Other pads such as Ferodo or Porterfield or?????

Need more information from you first. What type of driving is planned (track, street, or slow sunday drives only when the weather is nice to show off car, etc)? Do you value low dust versus performance? Do you polish your car and rims each week or two and hate brake dust? Do you value performance over all other considerations including high brake caliper/rotor wear rate?

Am trying to find out what type of driver and use you plan for the car.

i use Ferodo DS1100 front and DS3000 rear, dust like mad, stop like an anchor, can handle very high temps and provide a consistent coefficient over a wide temperature range. Car is tracked often.

What is your Ferrari driving plans?

BTW: nice collection of cars you have. Very nice indeed!

What kind of car ? I was doing some Spring cleanup and found a new set of Porterfield R4-S for my 308qv. (fit any 308 I think) Both front and rear. I had planned to change mine but they were like new and I decided to wear them out before changing them. (at 1k/year that may take a while)

"It depends", Porterfield has some good choices.

Porterfield R4-S work well. I changed last fall from a racing pad (put on by previous owner) and dramatically less dust and no squeek at all. I have not driven with them on the track, but they should be good for short stents at a track day event.

Depends on your application though. The racing pads had no fade on the track and excellent stopping, but sounded like a dump truck on the street. The harder the pad the faster the wear on the rotors as well.

I've had good luck with Ferodo DS2500 on the 360 and 430 for street and a few track days. Some (very slight) light-pedal squeal, very low dust (better than stock), and they are not hard on rotors. They're priced right and wear very well also.

On a 308/Mondial, Porterfield R4-S. Work well with the stock brakes.

I used Axxis Deluxe Plus on my 328GTS and they were comparable to the stock pads, and made much less dust.

On my 355 I went with Porterfield R4S and noticed definite improvement over the stock pads in initial bite and much less dust.

I had a 1984 308GTSi. Volvo brake pads were the exact replacement front and rear, performed very well street driven. Bought the pads from Bill @ GT Car Parts.

I got them from Bill @ 1 623 780-2200 You will need to ask him. I never knew what Volvo they fit. He also told me the master cyl was MB.

They were the exact same pads. I remember him asking me do I want Ferrari label or Volvo on the box.

I've tried Porterfiled R4S, R4, R11, Hawk Blue, Peformance Friction, Raybetos ST41 and ST43 on the street and track, from the GTO to Daytonal, the result is the same. Raybestos pads. Stop like nobody's business. You can't over heat them (you'll boil the brake fluid first). The wear great. The don't eat the Rotors. And, they don't squeak so I use them on the street as well.

Awesome pads, but expensive. Oh, and they are supposed to be a relatively high heat range pad, but they work fine cold on my cars as well.

The R4S pads are perfectly fine for street use, and I even used them on the track with GTO, but that's a light car and even Porterfield doesn't recommend them for the track. They don't squeak, are easy on the rotors and are cheap.

Great info! For me I want high performance street (e.g., canyon racing) with good bite hot or cold and with as low a dust generation as possible.

Any more info / feedback /experience with the Raybestos?

    Thanks everyone.

The great thing about Porterfield is that if you supply them with any old used pads they can reproduce them and usually the same day if you get em in early.great place to avoid Mr.Ferrari dealer partsman.
