Those of you that really drive your cars know that rock chips are an unavoidable part of driving. I have a clear bra on the 360 and I still get minor chips here and there on the upper parts of the hoods and fenders.

On a recent canyon drive, I picked up a lot of tiny rock chips - enough to make me decide that I eventually would do a front-end repaint. You couldn't see 99% of the chips from a few feet away but if you got close and I pointed them out, you could see them: dozens of tiny chips. My car is otherwise pretty damn clean so the chips were bugging the crap out of me.

The other day, I had my mobile paint and dent repair guy come and do some touch up on the bigger chips. I figured hiding the more visible chips would help me put the whole "chip situation" out of mind until I made the car perfect again with a front end respray. I'm sure most of you understand what I had to put "out of mind" - that whole irrational "my car is now less perfect" feeling that bugs the crap out of you.

The mobile paint and dent repair guy (Rick) and a couple of his guys worked on the car at my home while I went off to work. When I got back home at the end of the day, I was surprised to see that all of the chips were gone. Even the clear bra dimples were taken care of.

Needless to say, I'm a happy camper. He put in little drops of paint into each chip and color sanded the fenders and the hood. Some chips required a couple passes but the end result is that you cannot tell where the chips were.

The best part is that it only cost me a couple hundred bucks vs. thousands for a front end or even just a bumper respray.

    Woo hoo!!!

    OH YEAH and THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The guy Ron referred to me never returned any of my phone calls. His name was Mike and that dude is running a flake-a-thon...and guess what? He's the front-runner and going strong!

I know exactly what you mean about feeling the car is less then perfect: everyone else has perfect & pristine cars and your car has those blems. Yep, been there, fretted that....

I'm calling Rick right now!!!!! Soon it'll be me posting my before/after pics! :)

    What else does he do?
    Bumper repair?
    Rims-curb rash?
    Dings?
    Inside chips?
    Seat wear, bolster wear?

JJJJJust got off the phone with Rick....he was a bit hestitant when I told him I was in the San Fernando Valley...but I am going to let him work on my Ferrari, Hummer and my wife's YukonXL...so a 3-pack was enough bait to lure him up here.

Hey....if anyone else needs some work done, you can bring your car to my home, park it covered in the driveway and he can work on it while he's up here. Who doesn't have a few knicks, chips or scratches! :)

Send him down to San Diego. I'd be too worried to drive my car back if it didn't have a few rock chips.

He's fixed a small nick on my aluminum center console on the 360 (dropped my cell phone) and did my FX45 before the lease turn in (bumper scuffs, scratches, long scratches) and has pulled dings for me on my GF's car.

Here are the before pics on an old GF's car. She lived up in LA and her car was torn up like hell. They fixed everything on it including what I'd call a long "gash".

Not sure about leather or wheels - never asked.

If he does I think your car alone counts as a group. Good to hear the results came out well. Have to throw his number in my data base. Was hunting for someone who did that about a year ago.
