Great, I agree with that one Paul. He got the name Super Rat because of his front two teeth.

Agree. It is a pity though about the Jaguar era ... oh well nobody is 100% perfect.

I wonder if he is feeling a little jealous, as he was the king at Ferrari for bringing them almost single-handedly out of the ashes in the 70's ... then along came JT and Todt did it again (yes MS, Brawn, etc. played a part but JT is the man really responsible).

Now MS has retired and Kimi wins his first race and thus Lauda can see that JT's time is not over ... I could understand him feeling a bit jealous.

it was in his 'consultant' role with Ferrari that Lauda hired JT in 1993.
it was one of his many important contributions to Ferrari...
he still talks alot of BS that he shouldn't though...oh well,no one is perfect. whatever...

I think that is pretty clear since there was absolutely no reason for the car to sheer out the way it did. Could only have been suspension going out. Ferrari hastly took the wreck and never investigated it and crushed it. In those days mistakes were not tolerated by the old man. They would have never admitted it.

I too am a Luda fan for his heroics, but I read he only raced for the money. I do not undestand this comment, or how it could be true. I am told he never kept anything, nothing. I have a freind who has a piece of his car that burned. I think he went very heavily in debt to race, maybe this is part of it. Look at his smile on some of the podium shots, it is the overbite that earned him the name.

Drivers like Fittipaldi and Lauda helped carry F1 in the '70s. It was their great sportsmanship, driving and respect for the series that distinguished them from the other "also-ran" and "bland" drivers of the era who would have made F1 in the 70s a disorganized circus.

Luckily, Emmo and Niki were there to show them how its done.
