    Hi There

I'm a UK based filmmaker currently researching for a documentary project examining the Ferrari brand and ownership and need to hear from you if you have any personal stories to tell. Here are a few examples of stories or topics.

    1. Have you had any negative experiences from members of the public while owning a Ferrari or perhaps a reason forcing you to sell your car. Especially if you live in the UK.

    2. Any extraordinary, strange or unusual things you have done relating to Ferrari (can be non-owners)

    3. Any amazing stories relating to the way someone has come to own a Ferrari. Rags to riches, a gift etc?

I'd like to reiterate that the help I'm looking for is based on actual personal experiences people have had rather than opinions or comments.

If you can help then please get in touch at the following email address. ferraridoco*at*hotmail.co.uk or PM me. Please check out my profile to ensure this is a serious enquiry.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I had a ribena bottle thrown at me while driving my 360 near a primary school from the top floor of a bus, the children must have only been 10 or 11 yrs old. I was absolutely stunned why they would do such a thing. Must have been jealousy, which is such a terrible shame at that tender age.

I also regularly note people driving 'funny' around you when your in the car. I.e. revving their engines, driving up close, taking photo's, looking to see who the driver is, etc. Even had one young lady waving her knickers in the air! (I kid you not!). Absolutely loads of people take photos on their phones, some trying to do so without you noticing, lots of thumbs up and smiles. Some people hate you, some spit at the windows when stopped at traffic jams. Lots of people asking what the top speed is or how much fuel it drinks, etc. If you want a good deal on something, never let them see you driving a Ferrari, the prices always go up!

Overall owner experience has been mostly postive!

I have had experiences go completely opposites from the praises 'Oh I love your Car' to having a handful of shingle thrown at my car when I went past a High School (The one where Gene Simmons filmed Rock School and spawned that annoying pint size Little Chris).

Also being bump started by spectators at Snetterton when I had battery/starter motor issues, this chap laughed 'I never thought I would be bump starting a Ferrari', it probably made his week:)

Also used my Friends Mondial T as our wedding car, that was way better than getting the usual Roller or limo

I know what you are saying there definitely (not that mine would stand much of a chance against anything modern turbo wise).
But yes you seem to be a target for all to want to race you at the traffic light Grand Prix

This is why people buy Ferraris

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qT_q8PXFrw

You get the same sort of feeling driving their road cars.

Without understanding this you will miss the point entirely.

It may be a good idea to show how "normal" a lot of ferrari owners are.
I think its a big misconception that "you must be loaded because you own a Ferrari"
    I'm not , i havent got a pot to piss in :D
Yes some of the guys that own the latest models have a few quid , but I've learnt from my experience detailing them that most owners aren't exactly rich , they're just people with a passion for cars that have worked bloody hard to pay for them.

Thanks so much for your responses and I definately see your point about the passionate without excessive money buying the cars. Really important. Just a few more questions:

    1. Have there been any instances where you or someone you know has sold their ferrari because of the hassle (maybe aimed at newer ferrari owners?)

    2. Any instances of people being stopped by the police? (not necessarily racially related) I heard of a story where someone was stopped by the police just so that they could look at the car!!

    3. In terms of buying a new ferrari or dealing with an authorised dealer, has anyone felt any snobbery from the dealerships or feeling that they've had to 'qualify' for a car?

Thanks again and again, feel free to PM me or email at ferraridoco*at*hotmail.co.uk

I was following a police car late one evening shorly after I got it, and I had my lights on full (first proper night drive and I liked the look of the four lights on), they made me stop and one was really friendly and interested, he was really polite and nice about the whole thing.

I also remember the evening when I bought it I went straight to a well known trendy pub where my then girlfriend was with her friends, as I pulled up there were a group of lads coming out and one said 'Flash Git', I thought that wasn't a good start to Ferrari ownership!

As far as the police go I think they love the F cars! I was in a owners club meet in the middle of Bracknel and we were about to leave. I fired my engine up and one of the many coppers made a beeline straight for me; so I turned it off. "No" he shouted, "leave it on, I was comining for a closer look!"

I do think that some dealers are a bit snobby, especialy my nearest Egham one.
When i fisrt got the car, I drove over to them to get some bearing for my aircon belt. I parked in a carpark full of new cars, and I thought how un 26 years old my car looked. I was just walking off when one employeee walked out and boomed at me "Oi old cars accross the road!"

Last year I was driving along, with the roof down, when a West end student type shouted "Fanny" at me. I turned back at the roundabout and jumped out of the car and said " Call me a fanny again...I dare you!".
He said " I shouted Ferrari !" ....oops. A quick spin round the block made his day:)

Instead of being 'forced' to sell my Ferrari (no way!) I did it the otherway around. I got so upset with the stupidity of the local council and their draconian road policies I sold my HOUSE. Not the car, the house had to go!

The local idiots in planning had put HUGE, and I mean H-U-G-E speed humps down the main access road out of where I had purchased a property 4 years prior. The house was great before the bumps went in and the builders moved away from the site (new build houses) the area was up and coming.

As soon as the stupid council put the humps in the prices started to slump and nobody with a nice car wanted to drive down and see the area, let alone move it! The house prices where directly being effected by the bumps! I kid you not! Even normal cars had difficulty getting over them.

My 360 had no chance but to scrape its belly on every one (cringe and ouch!), I even managed to spot a town planning agent measuring them, he told me they where 6-7cm high at the worst points. The older main road also had terrible settlage making the problem even worse in some parts (!).

In the end I just couldnt put up with it anymore and sold the house and moved to a gated community with privately owned 'residents society' roads and security gating. Now I can leave my car parked in the open whenever I feel like it without fear of vandal damage or damage to my car.

That is fierce, all done and dusted... Well Done.
I recall you mentioned that Top Gear were sniffing round the possibility of putting it around their track - presumably nothing came of it?
