It'll go up if the kid nails the algebra teacher. Given the rate at which teachers are getting caughting nailing students, he may have a shot.

Geeeez everyone is so hard on this kid!

Cut him a break. Algebra sucks. He is barely managing a 3.0 GPA and he cant do better than a D in Algebra. Oh well.... so it goes.

The world needs ditch diggers and garbage truck drivers too you know. No algebra or higher education required. Besides, if he chooses to live in a dump and suck up a big car loan he will still be able to drive a 308 or such, if he does his own wrenching and all.

So screw the algebra, blow off that homework and sneak out to a friends house to watch Speed TV. I know you will be happy tossing burgers at the BK lounge!

Now, besides that remark that might be the funniest think I've read on this site, everything else that was said was irrelevant, after that remark I mean, about me nailing my algebra teacher.

Can you say, Mr, cough, Mr. Algebra teacher...
Dont think so. By the way, today I had a meeting with my counselor and I'm going in for tutoring with different teachers that I like and like me. I'm making improvement.

Now there is some advice from the other side. It was fun to read, but no offense, I won't take it. I'm going to make something of myself. Can't say I think much of the guy who comes by to pick up my trash on Wednesdays.

LOL.... at least you have a good sense of humor.

Get the tutor, stick with them, get an A. Algebra sucks but you will happy you learned it when calculus and trig come down the pipe.

Learn how to take tests. There are books on the subject. Learning is much easier when you are a skilled test taker. Good to hear your determined to do better, just follow up.

Nothing wrong with driving a trash truck or anything else. Honorable living being earned. Just make sure you find yourself in that position because your happy with it and not because you screwed yourself because you were stupid.

Anyhow.... here is the best piece of advice I can give any HS freshman: In 4 more years the word "popular" will very abruptly cease to have any meaning in your life. Very Very few of the people who seem so important right now will matter one bit in 10 years and most of them you will only barely even remember.

Keep that in mind along with this: What you think is wild, crazy and fun relative to hanging out with your friends partying and such is NOTHING compared to the parties you do in college. NOTHING. The same relationship as where you are now to 2nd graders. So realize that if you dont get great grades now and ace tests and such YOU wont be at the real party because you will be working some crap job. College is mandatory for ALL the right reasons.

Your lucky, a 58% used to mean failing the course, not good.

It did. I was failing. However, I got 48/50 on a test today and now my grade is a 74%. That's a plain C.

Good, keep it up and act right and your parents will give you more responsibility. That is how it works. A solid C is a good start. Now bring the grades (yes all of them) up to A's and B's.

If you were my kid, I would want to see a 3.5 average because I know you can do it. You just are not applying yourself as you should.

If you want to own and drive a Ferrari or other exotic car, you will need to have $$$. You cannot make that kind of $$$ flipping burgers for minimum wage.
