I'm proud to say that today is my one year aniversary of my 84 308 GTS QV , it had 67,000 miles when I purchased it and now has 71,000 miles without any problem other than it needed a new battery. I'm very happy with the way it performs, on the stock motor, it's smooth, clean and reliable. I hope to get many many more miles out of her as long as I'm up to date with the preventative maintenance and major servivce.

Same Here. Trying to think off the top of my head some of my experiences that first year.
    - put about 7,000 mile on her
    - longest nonstop drive was 4 hours
    - did a major service, timing belts were only 2 years old but tensioner bearings were not done, so had everything done (for piece of mind as well as starting a new maintenance cycle)
    - got new carpets and shift knob (save originals for the car shows)
    - installed aluminum racing pedels
    - replaced both windshield washer nozzels, rubber intake hose for the air box,
both front and rear weatherstripping gaskets for the targa top (rear had a little rip in it, so if I replace one might as well do both)
    - fixed the fog light switch (loose contact), the right front side light (glued the mounting stud back to the base of the light
    - repainted the fiberglass rear shield in the spare tire well, and the heat shield above the engine (used some special under-the-hood hight temp paint) looks just like OEM
    - gave everything a real good cleaning (engine compartment, undercarriage, suspension, ect)
    - new battery (red optima)
    - removed both seats to clean/condition the leather
All in all not a lot of stuff. You would most likely do all that and some more on any 20 year old car. Now that I'm into my second year, I'm going to do one big maintenance project a year, in addition the the normal maintenance. This year I went through the fuel system, replacing all the rubber fuel lines and hose clamps, new fuel filter, check valve and accumulator. Next year it's the cooling system (new hoses & clamps, ect) then replace the rubber brake lines with Stainless steel ones. It kind of goes against the "if it isn't broke don't fix it approach" but there is something to be said for preventive maintenance, and after 20 years more than justified, remember that reliability is a function of maintenance.
    - To sum up, my first year was a very positive experience, which gave me countless smiles and enjoyment, to quote the commercial "PRICELESS"

Thanks mate, I took 3 cake mixes to make a cube then carve out the 348 shell, a bit of licorice for exterior trims, some biscuits for the wheels and a few jelly lollies for the indicators and it turned out not to bad :D

We ate the lot except the candle :p, didn't even leave behind a crumb

Did the cake have a subframe so you could drop out the insides for servicing?

Didn't even know it's already been a year. Time flies, or maybe you just drive too fast haha. Anyway, have fun and take care of her! See ya soon.

P.S. Thanks for always bringing me along to the meets when you can and for all the joyrides :)
