Would you go skydiving???

My first jump was a tandem. I laughed all the way down, it was soooo much fun! I could see myself becoming addicted to it if I had more disposable income and less cars

If you like a fast ride on a motorcycle or you drive down the freeway with your head out the window then you'll love skydiving! Wonderful experience!!!

 

Do it, but make her pay for her half. This chick is nothing but trouble. Have your fun but don't waste too much time or energy on her.

 

If you really want to do it then go for it. If not, forget it.

 

If it's important to you...

If you die, your life insurance company won't pay. I guarantee you filled out a questionaire when you applied and they asked specifically if you were a pilot or sky diver. You answered no, I'm sure.

If that's not important to you; the fact that insurers consider it a very bad risk, then go for it.

I only know personally of one person who died doing it. Course I only know one person who used to sky dive, so the odds don't look all that good from where I sit.

If you wonder why most folks don't sky dive, it's exactly because of what you're thinking... THIS **** COULD KILL ME.

And no, I wouldn't sky dive. I wouldn't drive fast on a race track without proper instructions and I wouldn't fly a plane either. (Although I have seriously considered #2 and 3.)

If you jump, do it for you not her. While skydiving, flying, scuba, racing.....etc.. are relatively safe, they are very unforgiving if something goes wrong.

 

i went several years ago for the first time and it was a blast. i did a tandom jump with a prior member of the Golden Knights (Army jump team) and after we landed, i couldnt wait to go again. it was a little nerve-racking during the climb and right before the jumping out, but once we were in the air, it was a real rush.

 

I want to do it and im not scared of dying but more scared of the landing as some said ( breaking legs..).

How can this happen ?? You deploy the chute too late , not slowing you down enough when you touch the ground ??

 

A tandem Hang Glide ride would be better (imho). BTDT. At least you get to see if the glider is airworthy before you go, not so with the chute. And it will last longer.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics. (I like this quote) While (almost) everyone has an equal chance of bee stings & lightning, and a smaller subset for the other possibilities, most people DO NOT chose to jump from a plane.

One year several interns at work decided to go tandem jumping. One came back with a severe knee injury, they landed wrong and the instructor knocked him around.

 

I jumped in tandem/freefall in Vegas. Was a bit shell-shocked for the rest of the day, otherwise it was totally awesome.

 

When I had my Citabria, the insurance company made me take a basic Aerobatics course. (guess they knew I was gonna go upside down on my own anyway).

The instructor put me through a little parachute ground course, because you have to wear a chute do do these maneuvers. His Super Decathlon did not even have seat back cushions - you had to have a small chute on to sit in them. He asked if I wanted to do a "real" jump school and do a few jumps... (his chutes were liteweight "security sport" models and did not even have a reserve).

I told him that I was not really interested in it; I just wanted to fly the airplane. He told me that he felt the same - and that many aerobatic pilots share this opinion.

That said, I would not hesitate to jump if big pieces came off the plane, or if the fire and smoke were getting a little to close to the cockpit.

 

I started thinking about taking the "leap of faith" again after watching President Bush take the plunge on his 90th birthday. I have two old friends who love it and they have been trying to convince me for over 20yrs and I think I am ready now. Any personal recommendations for a Houston area based jump school?

I'm pretty sure I would never be willing to sky dive...driving cars with four wheels on the ground is enough thrill for me!

 

Really want to do it but can't do a tandem due to my height (and subsequent weight). Did find out that I can do a course and then allowed to do my first jump solo (unsure how they're going to simulate jumping out of a plane and pulling a cord whilst on the ground but should be entertaining).

I bungee jumped when I was around 11 so skydiving was always the next step.

 

Did it on regular basis in late 80s through early 90s, best stress reliever ever, better then pounding a ( not mine) 430S at Mt Tremblant track.
Then took my wife to watch and that was the end of it......
