Hi 360C, can you get some more news on this car in Australia? Regarding the wing, I don't know if this car came with the large one originally as (ex)mine, if somebody can comment? So it seams that finally everybody will know everything about GTE's!!
AFAIK 85015 never had the GTE bodywork or the gearbox or carbon rotors, so its mostly an LM with a GTE spec engine. I believe that both accidents were relatively minor, but that in one of the accidents the gearbox had to have new internals. Benny also owned 84503 which was a full GTE with all the bodywork and sequential gears. See the following pictures from M Sheehan's website. This car is also in Asia now. I knew the car well and the person who repaired it. The repair was done perfectly. Gearbox problem was not accident related.
I was told by the mechanic that it was as a result of an impact to one of the rear wheels by another car that didn't damage the car/wheel very much but broke gearbox internals. I'm not questioning the quality of the repair. Dan

What would you like to know? The car has had a very thorough cosmetic restoration here in Melbourne and it was done to a very high standard. I posted photos on this site somewhere once before. It hasn't been used since completion and as I said, it looks stunning. The car seems to be very much an LM with few GTE variations beyond the engine. It certainly is nothing like an EVO 2 GTE. It has no race history and apparently not a lot of use since new.
This car is also in Melbourne (we have an LM and 2 GTE's here). This car is the ultimate evolution of a GTE- the EVO 2, it is a real weapon. This was the last car built (1996? My records not on this computer). It is owned by Alghadri and I would be surprised if it ever came on the market. It has the carbon brakes and x-trac sequential box. No race history and limited use. I have posted many pics of this car on the site as well. Not in the same cosmetic condition as the other 2 cars; but probably still my pic of the bunch. A real animal of a car from my observations and conversations with the drivers at the track.
This post has some good pics: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=135422591&postcount=102
I THINK the last F40 LM GTE was built in 1998? Or was it '96....I know one was built later on. EDIT: I think it was late in 1996....
the s/n 85015 is a GTE version with 1994 specifications. that means: 3,0 ltr engine,no carbon brakes ,no sequential gearbox. It had a small crash that caused the replacement of the front bonnet. regards ivo
Dominique, here your ex-car at FFSA race at Dijon 1998 http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1998/Dijon-1998-07-12f-008.jpg Here with the extra "nose-spoiler/front splitter" which the car does not have anymore at the moment. Maybe also fitted with the 3.0 ltr engine in stead of the 3.5.
Is that orange, or just an old photograph? Also, are these 3.0 liter engines you speak of different then the stock 2.9 liter engines?
I figured that, but I wonder why they would enlarge it from 2.9 to 3.0 liters. I can see them going to 3.5 like some of the others have. I guess they have their reasons lol.
