My order for my F430 Spider is coming up and I must sell my 360. This car is perfect. I bought this car new from Continental Autosports in Illinois. 2003 U.S. car with Exterior Yellow, Interior Black Leather w/Yellow Stitching. Options include F1 shifting, Daytona seats, power seats, red brake calipers, yellow ferrari shields, Tubi exhaust, HI_FI stereo system, K40 laser installed at dealership (front and back). Car has had all service at Continental Ferrari dealership, recent clutch test shows 50% remaining. I own many other exotics, so this car is maintained and detailed weekly by personal detailer. Car has 8000 miles, year 2003. All books, service records, covers, included. Asking 175K OBO.

Isn't Continental expecting to get the car back in as your trade?

Thats pretty low mileage! I would jump on this ... if I could afford an F-car.

Good luck selling it and enjoy your new toy once it comes in!

I think your asking price is fair provided the 30K service is done including the belts. It should sell 165 to 170K IMHO.

Looking at your car makes me consider something I never thought I would consider - trading my 360 Modena! I love my 360 so much, I don't ever want to give up having it, but the weather has been amazing here and it might be fun to have the Spider version of my car. My car is identical to yours, other than the roof. Would you consider trading for my car + ~50k?

I'm also curious why you don't have to trade in to your dealer on the 430? I thought they would require this for you to be a repeat customer at MSRP. Do you know something I don't know? Who is your generous dealer?

i agree with Al..........its silly that a modern car needs its belts replaced after 3 years and 8k miles!!!!

Don't rule out a trade in. There are 59 360 Spiders currently for sale in the FML. May be harder to sell privately than you think.

I'm not ruling out a trade. I had an interesting discussion with my dealer yesterday, whom in a round about way told me that I should(have to) trade in my 360 in order to get my 430 Spider at MSRP. I have been on the list ever since I got my 360, and now he tells me I have to trade it in? Do other people have to trade in their 360 to get the 430? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think most dealers that are going to sell you a 430 at MSRP are going to expect that you either sell on consignment through them or then trade it in to them. I think that is very fair and a good compromise for an MSRP car and future cars. If you don't, you may never see another car from them.

viper-educate me-why is 50% of the clutch gone in 8000 miles? i have owned various porsches, most recently a 997tt, and the p car clutches last a good 50,000 miles.

Ferraris eat clutches quicker than Porkers, its just a fact of life unfortunately. I do hear that Lambos appetite for clutches is even more vigourous???

I think it is the F1's driven in traffic that have more of a tendency for this, I doubt a regular 6 Speed Manual would go through Clutches so quickly.

My 2000 360 6spd with 21k miles has the original clutch, and still feels great! I had a 2000 360 F1 before, it was a costly sucker to maintain. I really enjoy driving the 6spd and best of all they're pretty low $$$ maintainance .

Dose anyone have idea how long in terms of mileage the original (OEM) clutch can last for in normal circumstances? My 2002-360 manual has 15800 KM now and don't know when I should replace the clutch, any hint or symptoms I can tell?

The manual's should last quite a long time, mine has 16k miles, just got the 15k service done couple of months ago, and the mechanic said that the clutch is great, has a long ways to go.

I completely agree. The 6 speed lasts a lot longer than the F1. It just seems the clutch in the F1 gets beat up around town.
