Short, I guess, but if you've gone to any of the drifting events they hold there often, those guys have plenty of room to screw around in, I don't think we can blame it completely on the track here, definite lack of talent had plenty to do with it.

One thing I also want to point out, Eddie keeps saying that when the car supposedly didn't turn while he turned the wheel he freaked out, so why not hit the breaks genius? After the wreck he finaly hit the breaks and even though at that point the car is no longer at speed, you can tell as soon as he steps on the breaks, the thing stops instantly on a freaking dime.....that's what they're supposed to do, so why not use them Ed?

    Agreed.

Have you ever been on track? Have you never made a mistake? If so, you're not trying hard enough. Even the pros screw up sometimes. It doesn't prove they have a "lack of talent".

    e.g.: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/1197686.stm

You mean the "brakes", genius? :)

    That's not a bad point.

I'm fully aware that if Schumi can make a mistake and eat it then anyone can, but seriously, you're saying "lack of talent" didn't play a bigger role than everything else in this case? Obviously from the way the guy has been talking it up since the accident, he hasn't had much track time or time behind the wheel of sports cars, all in all this is just my opinion, everybody has one.

Haha you got me on that one, but in all fairness I was on my way out so I wrote it in a hurry

I know for a fact it was his car, i've seen him driving it around the Newport area. I also heard this was a publicity stunt to promote his new movie. What a waste! Typical loaded guy in So Cal. He made his fortune in the mortgage biz. Lendingtree.com then decided to go with movies. I also heard he dated some actress in hollywood... that's probably what inspired him to produce movies.

The Porsche CGT was a salvaged(previously totaled) car fixed partialy up for the crash scene... the driveable CGT was a different car. This is done in almost every movie involving expensive cars crashing, although the CGT even being totaled was probably not cheap. The Lambo crash is of a kitcar/replica and not an actual Diablo Roadster, the Shelby Cobra wa also a replica. The Enzo on the other hand.... All I can say is... Damn... that sux. It was Eddie's fault for wrecking the beauty but it was also the owners fault for pushing a novice/regular driver to handel a car in ways that was to much for him handel. It was also pretty stupid to put barriers that close to the course with amature drivers pusshing their own limits. Either way it bites... they need to call Jim and see if he has any parts left over from P4/5's pre-construction parts.

Does anyone have any idea of how much it may cost to have it repaired?

I would guess Ferrari would be the ones to make that estimate...Can't imagine Bill's Body Shop will be doing the work. He will probably have it sent back to Ferrari for the repairs.

Nowhere near as much as the car is worth. You hear at vintage races sometimes, people putting these things into perspective. If you damage a million dollar car and it costs $100,000 or $200,000 to fix, in the end, you still have a million dollar car.

Right it is all just relative.

I could write up an estimate while at work tomorrow and post it on here, it would have to be from what I can only see in the pics.. but I am guessing around 150 to 200 k depending on parts prices and labor rates in the area. here its around 70 an hour where the bay area is around 90 an hour, but then I have been in this bizz for over 20 + years and havnt fixed to many Enzo`s

    maybe thats a good thing..

Seems to me the crash video is a great answer to the question, "Daddy, what is power understeer?" I actually think it will be useful for driving school instructors.

What's amazing is that even the dumbest person has basic survival instincts. When you see you are headed in the direction of a concrete barrier and turning the wheel isn't helping, don't you think most people would hit the brakes, even if they know nothing at all about cars?
