Exactly. I'd say most of the whole state of California, but then again we have enough people here already? Wait a minute. If you speak English you might be ok here.
Well back in college we would offer a complimentary windshield de-icing to our 'friend' walking back from the bar after drinking a bit too much... ok bad idea for a Ferrari, but you get the idea...but seriously, de-ice the windows? There's absolutely no way I'd even buy the car if I didn't have indoor storage...
Wouldn't you have a replacement screen for just such an occasion? or how about some transparent big tear off strips ala helmet visors.. a quick pull and off you go!
Yea, but your wheels might be missing...in fact, the whole car might be missing. I'd park it indoors. The sun kills paint and tires. Car covers are OK but not as good as indoors IMHO.
Frankly, I use the same marine grease I use on the prop shaft of my boat. That way, when I wash underneath the car The mufflers don't squeak.
For all of you who may think this is a joke or that the car is just sitting outside, the car is coming out of cryogenic storage. The downside of this storage, which keeps all types of wear away from the car, is the frost that happens on the windows. I appreciate all the helpful ideas! As far as muffler bearings, I've gone to poly ones. BIG difference! Also, does anyone know of a blinker fluid that doesn't freeze up?? Thanks!
That one they lost disintegrated at 3,000 MPH.....dunno if that's nautical miles or regular ones....no real difference I suppose........
You have a twisted mind, sir! Lovely to have you stagger along with us. I am immediately switching to teflon on the kinibly pins also.
Reminds me of the time I took my TR in for service and the tech told me my transmission was gone! Common occurrence on the older TR's he said, and also this model year requires TWO transmissions. Also had the headlamps filled with Xenon fluid, hate to skimp.....
I agree, Xenon is the only way to go if you want high performance. But does anyone know of a higher performance fluid for the non-Xenon blinker bulbs? I'm going to be taking one of my other cars to the track and want to make sure I am reaching maximum blinking potential. Thanks!
I have a 5 gallon bucket of salt that I got from the highway dept and just throw some on the windshield to melt the ice. Now with the warm weather approaching dont forget to change the fluid in the fallopian tubes.
I'm sure you know that the Maximum Blinking Potential (MBP) is inversely proportional to the volume of Xenon and/or hydrogen sulfide gas.
TOTLDOM never mentioned with what model Ferrari he is having icing issues. Earlier models through the 355 used an analog ice scraper whereas later models, from the 360 onwards, and including the 550 and 456 M all require a digital scraper. And, don't forget that it doesn;t matter if yours is a US or Euro model. All use metric ice scrapers.
I'm told metric scrapers won't work on US ice, but unfortunately the SAE scrapers won't fit the metric glass on Ferraris either.
If you've ever watched the wise gnome on Travelocity, you know US appliances won't work in Europe (and vice versa). Am I going to die?!
