That is an excellent post. I especially agree with your last sentence. F1 is not the only form of motorsport I like, its just my favorite. I also like Indy, Champ Car, GP2, Rolex Sports Car, ALMS (I think those LMP2 and P1 cars are the bomb, and the GT2 and GT1 cars of course), Formula Renault, and basically any kind of racing on SPEED channel...except I just can't like NASCAR. In 2005 I went to a Busch Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, and the winner was Kasey Kahne. I fell asleep halfway through the race. I dont know if it was because of vibrations, all the noise, or maybe my neck was tired because it went the same direction watching the cars go by every time. What does myopic mean? And the only thing I would change in your post is the whole threesome thing. For me it would be Jessica Simpson and the lead singer of the *****cat Dolls, I honestly don't know her name for sure, but I think its Ashley or Nicole.
The most viewed sporting event on the planet via television is F1, where an average of 400 MILLION viewers worldwide watch EACH race! This may be hard to swollow here in the states, but it is a fact.
True dat. F1 is small in the States and NASCAR is big, but outside the States (aka "the rest of the world", which happens to be about 20 bigger than the States) the situation is completely reversed.
This does not sound right, F1 surpassing soccer that is. I would have thought it would be some major soccer match. After-all, that is the #1 spectator sport in the world.
You're almost right: Numerically World Cup Soccer and the Olympic Games come before F1. However those events only happen every 4 years whereas F1 is an annual event. Also in all fairness: The F1 numbers are cumulative viewership over the duration of the 17+ races.
Where did you get this? It prompted me search on google and I found this "Roughly 47 million people watch each grand prix live, at circuits and on television; a cumulative audience over the season of about 850 million - and about 13 per cent of the viewers of each race reside in the country where the race is being held." from an ING press release.
