Where are the fittings for the air injection system?
Sorry Goth.....I didn't know you were working on an intake also.......I'm sure yours will be just as nice...and then we can do a dyno comparision.
Goth I messed up my reply to you....some how my reply about hp gains on 5.2 wound up in the shaded quote area of yours.......hmmm(rookie error)..lol
Yeah gotta have 'quote' boxes [ ] in the right place One of the reasons IMO the 'M' air-filter monstrosity works is it is made of carbon fiber which does not induct or convect heat into the intake air, like the stock aluminum air boxes do. The air in the 'M' stays closer to ambient as it is isolated from the engine compartment heat. So this factor, along with better flow would explicate the HP increases if any.
Hey, wait just a minute...you callin my new intake a "Monstrosity".....and I thought this was goin to be a friendly air box comparison..........lol
Yeah....got it in late tuesday...I'm doin the same thing you did when you got your exhaust headers....just lookin at it settin on the floor...lol It might be a tiny bit big, but if it can give the hp, I don't mind a bit......the workmanship is awesome...even comes with new heat shielding w/Formula1 type insulation material.. The weight saving alone is worth 2hp...lol....it is as light as a feather
Yes, it was done on a 99 F355 if I recall correctly. I got an e-mail back today from GruppeM If you guys want to purchase 1 kit, the price will be 1,100,000yen, I'm not going to quote U.S. dollars because the price fluctuates and I don't want someone calling me a year from now asking me why the price was lower(or maybe even higher) If I can get 5 kits sold ( I am willing to stock 2 so I would need 3 people to step up) I can discount the kit 10% off. Not exactly what I was hoping for... but better then nothing. Regards, Kevin
I will be playing over at Mamoru's shop next sat. I will take some pictures and stuff. They are my service shop for the 355.
I'm still interested. I've been searching for this type system for some time. Are there some actual dyno numbers out there somewhere that can be evaluated? Can you get us some more details? I'm very interested in the exhaust, ECU and airbox. Mark
This system does look interesting. I would also need to know DB sound levels out of the tail pipes before I could consider one. I take my car to the track often and believe it or not they have sound limits. If you are over their limit which is around 94 db then you are kicked off the track. It would be a shame to have such a nice system like that and not be able to use it.
Mine would be on a "track only" Challenge Car. Frankly, this muffler looks like it could be quieter than the full Challenge exhaust, which sounds magnificent, but is pretty loud. It would be great to "hear" from someone using this system. Mark
Ed that is awesome...have you driven it yet with new system? It doesn't appear that you've installed the heat shielding that came with it?? One last thing(or two..lol)...did you eliminate the box(I know it is in the way) just after AFM....looks like you have a metal screen w/clamp??? Lastly......got any sound clips??????????.......
Yep, I've had it for about 1.5 years already. Feels great! I guess Eugenio ( my F car mechanic) left the heat shield out for the looks, and the box was eliminated like you said. Also, I've since changed that Blue coupler to a Black one so that everything matches. Here's some soundclips I put on youtube, the in cabin one is full acceleration.... Let me know if you have any other questions. http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=edmo7
Many thanks Ed...are those Hamann wheels(18 or 19)?........what was involved in removing box other than disconnecting?? Did you just rotate the AFM so side plugin would not hit up against the cabon?
Yes, those are Hamann PG3 19". As for the airbox installation, you might want to ask Eugenio. http://emelbon.tripod.com/eugeniosferrariservice.html
OK....here is the deal.......$8,200 FOB LA, Calif...........4-5week delivery....need 3 confirmed orders ASAP to get this pricing......these units will have the oval exhaust tip like is on Group77racing's 348...these fill the opening in bumper..and looks alot better than the round as pictured at the beginning of this thread.....I hope to have dyno sheets by monday. PM me...I'm ready to go
I posted a reply in another SACLAM thread and the entire thread was unceremoniously deleted a few hours later, makes me feel pretty good about spending money to subscribe to a forum. Either way lets try this again. I'm interested in this exhaust for my 99 355 and I'm perfectly willing to fork over the 10k for the exhaust without the dyno numbers, I'm just hesitant about the lack of any heat shielding as well as wondering what sort of thing could be done for the cats. Does anyone have any experience with this system that they could share? I love how this does away with the whole mess of a bypass system, just have a few questions. Any insight would be much appreciated.
