    Not sure "folding" is the right word. Basically you try to make your shoulders as narrow as possible to tuck them underneath the side cushions. So you align the arms in front of your chest.

    BTW: Over the years I sat so far in 5 different F1 cockpits and never found them to be that difficult to get into. A NASCAR cup car is a lot more difficult, climbing through that window and making it past the seat with the side restraints/protection for the helmet and body. However nothing compares to the Porsche 917 Kurzheck I pretzeled myself into once. Even without a helmet, it was by far the toughest car to get into. And once you're seated, you still have not much room. I don't get claustrophobic, but that cockpit was definitely most uncomfortable and I can't imagine driving that car on the limit.
