Well, I've been reading the forum for some time and need to report an outstanding find and purchase as a result. I'm driving to Bozeman, Montana from Portland, Oregon to pick up my 15,400 mile two owner 100 point concours 1979 308 GTS red/black car with complete books from original delivery, as new tool kit, jack and owners manual and all the records since new. Additionally the previous owners were best of friends so the car just kind of changed garages more than ownership. The information and resources available here were significant toward this transaction and I wanted to thank everyone that shared their experience on this forum. Excuse me if I'm beamimg with pride, but I am.

I'm bringing her home in an enclosed trailer. Weather and road conditions suggest hauling her versus driving her.

Sounds like you're selling it, lol.

100 points is impressive, though. I've never seen a 308 close to that.

Those look like tri-color Pennsylvania plates on the car - yet its in Montana? Do Montana plates sport yellow/blue stripes, as well?

On another note, if the car is 100 points, does that affect your 'want' to drive it? Or will you be showing the car only? How do you feel about stone chips?

Thanks again for all the support. As a newby on this forum you really know how to welcome someone. I'll drive it occasionally on nice days, no reason to have it if I don't drive it. Maybe some club gatherings as I hope to find the local Ferrari Club. Please tell me more about Concorso Italiano. The plates are Pennsylvania as the Seller had the car shipped out to Montana where the air is clean and the speed limits are liberal.

Congrats Herb, the beaming continues for years! :)

And if you feel a bit low sometime, just start the car and listen to the carbs, cures most everything!

Well I've had my new car home for a couple weeks now and she's better than represented. After hauling a 24 foot enclosed trailer from Portland, Ore to Bozeman, Mt. and back it was good to get off the road. Based on everyone's advise I undertook some preventative (otherwise deemed necessary) maintenance. After extracting and "tuning up" the combination controls on the steering column, replacing the washer pump motor and snail type horn with the preferred trumpets, I have confidence in the electrical continuity, ( the sound of that horn was awful ). I found that removing the harness from the car enabled me to work in a more comfortable space versus slumped over in the drivers seat. It eliminated the potential for damage from chemicals and tools on the interior and I could sure see better. The Blaupunkt Bamberg radio is a bit over the top but it was original, it works and that's all I need..
