Hello all, Just dropping in to clarify a couple things and inform you all about RM's vintage Ferrari auction "Leggenda e Passione" at the factory in Maranello, Italy - May 20, 2007. This will be the most valuable offering of vintage and historical automobiles ever offered in Europe. The sale, held in association with international auction house Sotheby's and legendary marque Ferrari, will feature approximately 40 sports and racing Ferraris and 100 lots of memorabilia from Ferrari's archives. You'll find event information and current feature cars listed on the website: www.rmauctions.com including the Phil Hill/Oliver Gendebien Le Mans winning 1962 330 TRI/LM Testa Rossa (0808) valued at $8 - $10 million USD. Regarding the F40 you saw on display at RM's Car Exhibit. That is the original 1987 prototype (74049) and Enzo's final swan song. It was unveiled by Enzo himself at Ferrari's press conference in Maranello in August 1987. Unfortunately for visitors, the F40 is currently on a ship somewhere in the Atlantic headed to the Maranello auction. However, there are always many cars coming and going through RM's doors. Currently on display there is a 1951 Ferrari 340 Panamericana (0150A) ex- Jack McAfee (who ironically passed away last week.) and a 1971 Daytona Spyder on display. Unlike most static car museums, the RM exhibit changes literally everyday so you never know what cars you will see next time you visit. There are also several automobiles in various states of restoration in the shop at all times, Duesenbergs, Packards, duPont, Talbot Lago, etc. If you have never been, you will be amazed at the craftsmanship and quality of these magnificent automobiles. RM looks forward to your visit in May. if you need further information regarding the auction events or cars offered, contact: [email protected] Ciao!
Stephan, Since it's on the long weekend, I can't commit yet but I would definately love to attend. Give me a few days to discuss with the wife if there are any plans with the family for this weekend. You say that there 10 cars already....that's both amazing and surprising. Tony
Tony, Great! We would love to have you join us! Have you found a F430 to replace the 512TR already? And we are currently up to 15 cars, you would make 16 . Whats so suprising?
Sorry Tony you can't go....you have no F-car! heh, just kidding. Just trying get the scoop on your new ride
He could always bring out his Fiat 500, which would probably get more attention than any other car. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75382
What the? How did I miss that post!? Wow, nice Tony! Congrats. Any pics!? Bernie, you bet me to it with the Cinquecento comment LOL
Well, this is the GTA meet thread so I meant the GTA GTG is a no-go for me this saturday. The RM thing is out as well because the distance is more than im up to. Im sure one of these days Ill go to a ferrari meet, lol.
I never intended to create such a comotion at Ferrari's own party... I see however that there are some real purist still in Montreal! Thank you all for the joy you bring me with your comments!
Hello Steve, this is Francis de Leeuw! Thanks for your input but to be a bit more accurate, I bought the Lagonda on April 4th 2006... time flies... A little anegdote, the car came from Bahrein and they had it registered as an Austin Lagonda... I had to spend quite some time with "la regie de l'assurance automobile du Quebec" to get that little snagg...
Guys, I am so proud of my Alvira! Last Thursday I was invited to the celebration of the sixty years of the creation of the brand Ferrari at a prestigious location in Old Montreal. Since I use to be an owner of the Italian prancing horse, they still invite me to there functions to see if I will not crack again for one of their cars I had to make a choice of what to wear. Like my wife, who when shopping for cloths for the occasion, I did not know if it would be appropriate to go there with Debbyset ( my DB7) or with my queen Alvira (my Lagonda). The weather was nice, a bit cold for a top down cruise but perfect for a prom night with my queen. This wasto be my first time out with her. For those of you who read my little story a few weeks ago, I got Alvira last April from Bahrein but had yet to register her to take her on the streets. I did that last week. Valet parking, casually late, and up two Gin Martinis, my wife, Alvira and I made our way up to the red carpet entrance. Here I will skip a few lines to create blank spaces in my text for dramatic effect! Every body was dressed formally, black suits, and formal dress for the women. There was two dozen photographers, three or four cameramen and they all turn and looked at us, Yes the crowd stared at my wifes stunning dress and my debonair look in a black suit! After having being helped out of Alvira and having joined my wife Lise on the red carpet for an impromptu photo session besides Alvira, we proceeded to walk the red carpet. The crowd suddenly got disinterested in Lises stunning dress and my alpaga suit and kept clicking away at Alvira! Non stop for a couple of minutes. The valet guys decided to leave Alvira there. They merely backed her up 6 feet to free the red carpet but left her there for the rest of the evening! On the other side of the red carpet, along the sidewalk was a line of beautiful, brand new Ferraris and Maseratis. In the back of my prom queen was an other row of them Italians cars! All the spot lights were on MY beauty Queen all night! Sadly I did not bring my camera to capture the moment, this line of about 25 exotic cars, the oldest being a 2005 probably, and right in the center of all that glitz and fanfare, my humble 1984 Alvira. I have owned a few nice cars, a few great cars but never did I ever get this type of amazement look in so many people. Driving back home, we kept on having people look at us for the stunning dress my wife was wearing! LOL! No they couldnt see her inside Alvira Alvira was the center of attention of that evening in the streets of Montreal! None of the Ferraris or Maseratis I owned in the past drew so much attention. I could not expect that! Lise kept on making the comment ( champagne helping!) on our drive back home (maybe 5 or 6 kms), - This car is strait out of a cartoon because of its over extended bonnet and pointy nose. At night, Alvira being black, it gives her this magical aura... Shes a keeper!
Hi Francis first of all welcome to Ferrari chat. Yes it's amazing the reception your car got. I have always loved the crazy designs of the old 80's cars. Yours is beautiful. And I hope you understand that when I say "Porn" I mean it with upmost respect! MSRP of that car back in the day was over $200,000.00! Correct me Any more pics?!
Yeah that's what I was asking. I didnt know the RM auction was already here. Not that I should get excited because it doesnt even compare to the auctions in the states. Such as Meadowbrook which I attended twice. It was awesome. The RM auctions in the states have nicer cars in the parking lot than the auction here! Oh... http://www.ferrari101.com/forum/showpost.php?p=136602572&postcount=22 Sorry for the sour grapes, they aren't directed at you. Welcome to F-Chat...and BTW, nice Aston.
Ground clearance might be an issue with some of these cars in an underground parking garage, some of the inclines are very steep.
