Hello boys....I'm looking @ a 6.0SE but wonder how reliable is it as a car overall in terms of electronics, mech etc. What's the maintenance like & things to watch out for? Are the suspension & bushes expensive to replace? How about the transmission? Any upgrades to reccommend?

I'm planning to use it daily, the previous owner did it & clocked about 22k miles since '02!

Or should I sit & wait another year or two for a Murcielargo?

May I ask why wait for a year or 2 for a Murcielago? The prices are near the same?

Well, I happened to be in Singapore where cars are heavily taxed.

The RHD Diablo SE is US$400k here while a used '03/04 Murcie is probably about US$550-600k but we do get back about US$150k when we export it when it's 10yrs old or pay another US$10k+/- to keep it for another 10yrs but lose the $150k govt tax rebate. It's a complex system we have here but there's still about 200+ Ferraris & >100 Lambos on this 700Sqkm island.

Would you get a Murcie or Diablo 6 for daily city driving? Seems to me that the Diablo is holding value better than a Murcie on your side? But how's it like in terms of driving?

I've used an F348 & Testarossa for daily transport without much issue before.

Not to interrupt but may I ask what the recommended service intervals are for a Lambo? Everyone has heard the Ferrari ones, but I was just curious as to what Lamborghinis had to go through. Thanks in advance.

Buy it and drive it. Lambo's are tough cars all around. Only thing really to worry about is the clutch if your not careful. I have had a few with injection system issues, but nothing major. Front lift system is troublesome however, and shocks are very expensive.

But like anything else in the car world there are lemons out there that can really become a pain in the butt very fast. Do your homework and find the best car you can, even pay a bit more for it.

You'll be fine..if it breaks, swear a bit, throw some money at it and you will be on the road before you know it.

If the previous owner drove it often you should have no problems.

Problems arise when the car only goes 500 miles in 3 years and just sits.

Yeah, I never understood people who spend crazy money on cars and let them sit around. I love my car but if I didn't get to drive it at least once a week I'd have spent my money on something else.

Exactly. I remember that big stash of Lambo's becoming available up in Canada, had been in someone's collection, these cars were all less than 500 miles, some barely over delivery miles, it was ridiculous. I guess to some people their automobiles are like an art collection and if they have the resources, more power to them, but I like driving the hell out of mine, screw the resale. :)

I will agree with Roy on this post. I had the pleasure of driving his 6.0 SE during Concorso Italiano last year and that car drives strong!!!! Gear box is smooth and the engine pulls hard. Overall the car is very tight and you would never believe the miles on the odometer. That is one special car!!!!

That's awesome. I was doing pretty good, had about 2000 on mine in the first four months, but then I upgraded my g-wagen to 620 HP and bought a track car so they have been biting into my weekend time with the Lambo. :) I still give it some hard driving at least two weekends though, and whenever I have the opportunity to go somewhere during the week.

About 38K on my roadster and still very strong. No repairs in last year; just an oil change. A lot more reliable than my S600.

My roadster is not a daily driver but a weekly 2-3 day driver.

    Hi Diablo owners, I drove a 2001 6.0SE today.

The car has about 20K miles on it & serviced accordingly. Shocks & lifters replaced under warranty few years ago while the clutch was replaced during 8K miles. It has been sitting for a year or so & only moved about in the workshop. Tyres are 5yrs old. Body's fantastic with minor stone chips on the front nose/lens & lower lip. Interior's mouldy & engine a little dirty but dry. The gearbox's a little stiff when cold & clutch pressure is alright to me.

I took it for a 10mile drive & hit 120+mph with some sweeping corners & it handled well but I didn't pushed it for those old tyres. The suspension system seems to be working as I saw the lights shifted down to #2 on the centre console.

I wasn't very impressed with the drive, it feels old, gearshift a little stiff but precise & engine is rough, it has this noisey Gorggrrrrrr "Carburettors" sound from the engine above 3K rpm. Is it supposed to sound this way on a 6.0 Diablo? It doesn't sound right to me or could it be that it needs a major service with all new fluids? It's just not smooth & quite reluctant to rev, I was trying in vain to double clutch during up & downshifts. Power delivery wasn't exciting & it's definitely not as fast as my Gallardo Egear.

I was dreaming to trade up to this but it didn't live up to my expectations. I plan to use it daily in city & occasional freeways where I can do 200+mph.

I suppose if I do buy, I need a major service, aftermarket exhaust, new tyres, door seals (torn), brake hoses & maybe brake pads etc. Then send the car for a good valet to clean up the cabin & engine as well.

My question is the engine supposed to sound so raw/rough when you rev it? Do we adjust the cams/valve clearance @ 20K miles, how about those water pumps etc. The car's been sitting for several months without proper drive & I worry it'll start to breakdown with expensive bills. Overall, the car feels very much like my Testa which was a gem but a little old.

My Gallardo's very civilised, fast & under warranty with no headache. Perhaps I should look @ a Murcielago? I like the body of the Diablo & the fact that it's so rare.

Finally what sort of upgrades do you guys do to your 6.0 to make it a daily driver?

I've had mine (a 'regular' 6.0) for two years now and apart from one shock going bad (and it wasn't the mechanical part of the shock, it was the electronic bit in it that communicates with the system), nary a real problem. (One of my hydraulic return lines for the front suspension blew a few weeks ago, but the fix was the cost of the rubber piece-and a rescue by my faithful mechanic).
I am not going to diagnose what you heard, but the fact that the car has been sitting can't be good. I will tell you that first will take you up to 60 mph, 2d gear is largely a waste of time, once you are rolling, you go into 3d gear, and mash it. The car does get throatier as the revs build, but it is not an unpleasant sound, and it really starts to go as you keep pressing.
Upgrades, hi intensity discharge headlights, battery tender hook-up, i upgraded the Nav system and added a rear camera (which is useless) and keep after the car religiously.
My 6.0 was as good as they get, is in fine fettle, and yet, I would not use it as a daily. Too much of an ordeal to drive in traffic, ****ty visibility to the passenger flank, and too low, wide and unpleasant to contemplate on city streets during rush hour.
Finally, the car is going to feel a bit old school, which is actually what I like about it.
