Any owners in the Wichita, KS area?

It's a red 1998 GTS. I do love those B/Ws as well.

I wish Wichita had a planned-but-informal Saturday AM drive once a month or so, kind of like what Kansas City does (see Early93Viper's posts), although I know we don't have the same numbers as KC does.

I know that between wet weather and busy schedules, it can be a challenge to get anything set up that works, but maybe something simple/low-key would work. For example, if it's just a matter of announcing for people to "show up at the [for example] Rock Road Wal-mart West Lot at 8:30AM if you want to go for a drive" (and coffee before or lunch after), it wouldn't really matter if one or two showed up, or ten, or twenty, it would still be fun. (For example, the Friday evening gatherings at the west-side Dillons/Spangles in the summer seem to be just about right, in that it doesn't take much planning, and it's fun no matter the numbers.)

I don't know if there would be any interest in this, and I know that events that "start looking organized" can have some issues/problems with the parking lot owners. But, does anyone have any thoughts/ideas/suggestions? NSXER, thanks for getting us thinking about something. Given that I'm a Viper owner posting (although normally just lurking) on a F board, I'd envision a gathering where "a 10-year-old-Dodge [Viper]" (or a Vette or a Boxster, or any other "cool ride") could show up with the Italians.....

 

I think I'd be up for something on the 14th, although the evening is booked. An early morning drive, or a mid/late-morning drive followed by lunch, or lunch followed by a drive, would all work for me. I'm the newbie here, so I'm of course open for suggestions for time, location, etc. See my post above for some thoughts, but that post didn't address the eating-aspect.

 

How about Jimmie's diner? Jimmie's is located at 3111 North Rock Road (a little south of the K-96 Expressway, on the west side of Rock Road; web site- www.jimmiesdiner.net). One problem could be parking. Jimmie's lot is always crowded. The Jacob's Liquor lot is huge and not crowded but it's 100 yards or so to the south, and thus the cars would be not be in sight (if I'm parking in a clear/empty lot, I'm comfortable leaving my car unattended/out-of-sight for a while, but I realize that some [understandably] aren't comfortable with that).

I've only been in Starbucks a time or two, so I don't know if they have much (if any) of a food menu, but the one at the NE corner of Rock and 29th is handy, because it has the mostly-unused "overflow" Wal-mart parking lot to the immediate north.

Does anyone else have any other breakfast-location ideas?

What time would work best? 9:00AM? 10:00AM? Later?

Also, we likely ought to think a little about what kinds of weather would lead to a cancellation. My Viper "never" sees rain, but if it's not a heavy rain or possible-hail, I'd be OK with proceeding even if it is or might be a little wet, unless the general concensus is "cancel if there's any chance of rain."

We'll meet at 9:30AM next Saturday (April 14) at the east end of the Jacob's Liquor parking lot, which is located immediately to the south of Jimmie's Diner (3111 North Rock Road, Wichita). We'll then head to Jimmie's for breakfast, and then out for a drive.

Regristration starts at 8am first bikes out at 8:30am last bike to arrive at final stop by 1:30, this is a poker run $150 prize money for best hand and $50 for the worst hand.

I traded PMs with NSXER, and we're thinking that a change in plans is likely in order, and that we should do the benefit poker run.

I see from the website that registration is now starting at 7:15 AM, although the ride still starts at 8:30. I also see that we have a chance of snow early on Saturday, but perhaps that won't materialize.....

I'd be fine with meeting up earlier and still eating breakfast before the drive, but that might a bit on the early side? I'd also be fine with simply meeting up at the church at 7:45 or so (or a bit earlier?).

Any concensus? Thanks.

7:45 AM at Central Christian Church (29th and Rock) works for me.

Welp... the poker run is postponed due to the impending blizzard that is headed our way....

if you guys still want to meet up in the afternoon... maybe the weather will breakup by then.. who knows...

Well, I guess the old "best laid plans" saying has some truth to it....

In any event, we have a little momentum going, so eventually something will come together.

I'm pretty flexible on Saturday afternoon, if the snow would melt (or never arrive) and dry up (although I may have to fit in picking up my kid from a track meet; I don't think he'd mind if a row of Vipers/exotics showed up there....). Perhaps one of us should post here on Saturday morning, and if the weather looks clear/good enough, we could meet up somewhere (Jimmie's?) if that works for anyone.
