BTW, regarding preservation of fchat as a "bidness", I have been here since 2001, and this site has become a joke. I'm glad that someone is making money off of it. I hope you and the rest of the fchat gurus are making condescending folk song posts and playing worlds' tallest internet midgets in Rob's sandbox/playground whatever in 20 years. LOL

 

Thats fine with Rob as he allows you to post and express yourself. Rob sets the rules, ask him for verification of said rules.

Look, my goal is to point out that no, Fchat is not perfect though many of the whiners have hundreds of posts yet imo find ZERO value in Fchat by subscribing. Go ahead and start, configure, maintain, and police your own free public Ferrari discussion board. Please give it a go and come back in a year and let us know how things are going. Thank you.

Have posted to Rob about making Fchat a pay only site for posting, freeloaders can view posts but not graphics. Imo in one swoop this would weed out many of the less than constructive people. Of course it will not be a 'cure all,' though it might be a good way to start adding chlorine to the Fchat gene pool.

Over the years there are many online discussion boards that are now so much noise that the signal is truly lost. Fchat appears to be going this way to higher noise, less signal for years. Sad but true

no it's not an 11x17 6 million DPI image, but it's pretty damn good.

Also, I don't mind the requests for hi res images, and send 'em pretty regularly, just the price of being a good fchat neighbor, I guess.

Steven... Why so abrasive? More importantly why mix issues here. The point of this thread is URL blocking, not noise (which I dont see prevalent in this particular thread anyway). If youre gonna play the chatroom badass now, please keep it confined to the NE section.

I know you and I have interacted with civility in the past, so Im surprised with your statements above. IMO iron-fisted talk is just as bad as "noisey kids". In the end... while it may be a business for Rob, its just an internet chatroom most everyone else. Chill out.

Ive been here a long long time too... well before there were subcriptions, and then I was even subscribed for a couple of years. I simply chose to let it lapse for my own reasons, and Im glad Im still allowed access.

Thanks Rob for chiming in, your approach is excellent. Frankly, admire your patience as fully admit my patience for this type of stuff is greatly lacking.

First, my apologies if you feel my intentions are to have someone start another Fchat board, as that is FAR from my desires to have happen. This whole thread seem silly and painful at the same time.

IRONY TIME:
ECT complains about some NYC show not following their rules so they bail out in mid show leaving the promoter and their interests hanging. NOTE: it is ECT who set rules.

Naturally Fchat has rules set by Rob. Interesting how those who want to post about ECT again feels the desire to complain. As i see it, the irony is ECT link guys have their own rules and do not care about anyone else's no matter where they are.

Exactly and note how ironic it is ECT appears to love being controversial. Hmmmm...... Sadly, it appears to not be in a good light, though wish their business well no matters what happens. Am glad Fchat is here and feel it is a privilege to post here in this generally wonderful community of enthusiasts. Those who desire market share should go about it the right way, not blatantly, deliberately, and maybe with malice circumventing your rules. Rob, your restraint in not banning them is very admirable.

My apologies if i came off like a badass, ok, my emotions got the best of me. My intentions (uh oh) was that time and again i find at FCA meets and places like Fchat it appears some guys love to pull cr@p by hard-core networking for their own business interests, even if those interests are in a direct conflict with Fchat/FCA. Naturally Ford corporation does not promote Ferrari just as Ferrari does not promote Lamborghini.

So with that said, why do the ECT link folks feel it is ok and that Rob should allow said link? Rob set the rules and color me ok with said rules as easily understand where he is coming from and respect Rob's decision.

You are right, my apologies. LOVE Fchat and the whole irony with ECT put me over the edge... plus all this damn snow has already cancelled THREE track events. So here i sit shovelling deep snow looking at $$,$$$ in new track car and assorted bit and Mother Nature slapped me upside my face. MAN i really need track time BAD... the withdrawals are killing me!

Color me also a 'net guy who busts his arse and have seen competition come and go, even those with $30+ million dollars in financing. So maybe i got my feathers all up in a bind due to things that happened elsewhere personally/business-wise in my life. FYI: the guys with $30M had a big flash... and now out of business for years. Still, they did cause 'harm' to my business per se and also gave a black eye concerning Internet advertising/companies and longevity. Only in the past year or so has web stuff really come back to where it was before the dot com boom. Ah yes, the old Dot Bomb daze and Vulture Capitalists offering me insane money yet having ZERO business plan (so blew them off and glad i did).

Ok, yeah, i went over the line with those comments about subscribing. On the other hand, there might be merit in my deepest of hopes seeing Fchat continue going strong. My desire for a subscription-only business plan is my own and obviously not that of Rob. My feelings are sub-based would enhance S/N and quality. Again i offer my sincerest apologies if that appeared to be bullying folks into subscribing or strong arming Rob. Fchat is not my board, it is Rob's and he sets the rules. Have ZERO desire to start a board, you could not pay me enough (well, maybe you could, but frankly no thanks).

So perhaps some of us have desires to see various rules changed, yet for different personal reasons.

I am only making a constructive remark, trying to see if somehow this thing can get resolved for both sides and ur just a prick. im happy to see you have got 15 bucks to spend a year on a subscription, however i am 18 and have bills to pay (i am trying to go to college next year, and i have to pay for gas and everything for my car).
