What car would you choose considering the cost. obviously the 599 is the faster car but it is also more expensive and it seems like it is less fun to drive than the f430. both cars are perfect, probably the best in the world, but the question is that which one would you choose if the money was an object.
If money WAS an object I'd go F430 and never look back. Even if the 599 is better in some respects you simply can't be dissapointed in anyway with a F430 (from what I hear :-( ).
If anyone has drive both cars could you tell me if what i have Heard is true that the f430 is more fun to drive than the 599. I have seen both cars in person and they both look fantastic, the f430 looks more aggressive but each of them has a unique flavour of style to them so to me it very hard to tell which one looks better, what do you think? but i gotta say that i definately like the headlights of the F430 better. And there is another thing,Jeremy Clackson said about the 599 that the interior lighting of the 599 is very bad and it's headlights have the power of a "candle in a jam jar" !!! is this true!! i find it very hard to believe.
599: great, but I've never really liked the looks. I'm biased against front-engined cars, as I don't see that as "real" racing cars (but it's not meant to be a racing car, but a GT car, I assume.) F430: If we're talking the hopefully upcoming LP ("stradale" version), then hands-down I'd take this car! One of the current sexiest/raciest looking cars out there.
the f430cs/lp 's power to weight ratio is going to be even better than 599 if what they say is true,100 kg less than the standard f430 and it will have 520 hp. so it is likely to be faster than the 599 wow.sooo the 0-60 mph will come in 3.0 seconds the roadholding will possibly be more than 1.00 g so that means that it could take on cgt,slr,599,murcie lp640, you name it damn i can't wait for the f430 cs/lp. lets just pray that the ferrari would make such a car,ok ready.....start praying. lol
I like top down motoring, so the 599 is not an option even if I could get on the list to get one. I also prefer rear engine cars. the 430/360 looks much better IMHO.
I own a F430 F1 an have on order a 599. I have not driven the 599 only sat in it, pushed the start button and rev'd the engine. The dealer gave me a ride in the already sold car that was just being set up for delivery. It is a very impresssive car. it does not have the raw racing feel of the F430. The impression of the 599 riding in it, is more of a gentlemans Ferrari. To answer your question I am not sure yet what I will do. I love the F430 so much I do not want to trade it in. I am leaning towards keeping the F430 and letting the 599 go to someone else. I still have time before I have to decide. The slot is Feb of 2008. Also it may turn out to be a phantom slot, although the dealer has been very good to me. I drove the lambo Murci and did not like the car. This was not the LP640 but a new 2006 Roadster, the 585 hp version. Lee
If history repeats itself, the 599 will be less desirable than the 430 as time goes on. There is an experience to a mid-engined car that is not duplicated in a front engined car, no matter how fast or balanced it is.
I agree with leead and disagree with J. Salmon. The 599 will definitely be considered more the gents GT. I don't know of too many cars that are or were ever more desirable than a front engine V12 Ferrari. I haven't driven either but am putting the order in for a 599. I like gents GTs.
Never sat in or driven either, but no contest... 599. Based on looks and that ENZO derived V12. Pentagram wheels and -gasp- standard 6 speed please.
If I had the money it'd be 599 for sure, but sure wouldn't be disapointed with a F430. There both great I just love the way the 599 looks. I like the proportions of a front engined car better. A black 599 is the first and only Ferrari I've ever been in.
Bingo! You nailed it. I thought my 360, while exciting, was a bit harsh. I then bought a 575M. My exact thoughts were that the 575 was more "gentlemanly." I assume a similar dichotomy exists betwee the 430 and 599.
Too many people here "assume" this or that. I would love to hear some real life experiences from guys who own/drove both of these cars. Besides, from what I heard so far,599 is not just a newer, slightly better 575.
check the 599 section...several owners have given input on this matter. and yes, it appears that there are opinions from those who have driven a 599, and from those who haven't...and, from what has been said, those of us (myself included) who have not driven one, have NO idea how good it is... and all we can offer is the same "i'd take 'this'/'that' over it, cuz it looks better" yap... me personally, i really like the 599's looks, so i don't/ wouldn't 'prefer' a 550 or 575, etc over it, even based just on that. i can only imagine what it drives like! if it were my money, i'd take the 599 over a 430, simply because it would offer a more well rounded set of abilities and compromises for how i would use it.
I would choose the 599 hands down. Front engine, V-12 is the essence of the real Ferrari for me. Aside from that, I love the looks of the 599 and I do not like those of the 430.
Review the 599 section to get info. on the 599. If you can maybe the Ferrari dealer could let you drive the 599. Good luck.
Well I have driven a 430 one (test drive), and I have really only gotten to drive the 599 maybe 100 miles before heading back to school, but IMO the 599 is just as fun if not more. Now there are some caveats here, the 599 is spec'd just like I wanted i.e. CCB and it has better seats ect. Plus the technology in the 599 is way more advanced. Now you can get into the weight argument and I'm used to my Porsche Turbo, so the 599 doesn't feel heavy to me. The 599 has an almost super natural turn-in for a car of its size, I mean it's just incredible. F1-trac is really a riot and makes you feel like you are a professional driver. Look I could go on all night about the 599 it's simply the best car I have ever driven. Both cars are great, no doubt about it, but the 599 is newer. It has more technology and it was designed to be a "better" car than the 430. The whole basis for the 599 project and the whole F40 thing was to make the V12s top of the line again. People always wanted 360s more than 575s which was not how it was supposed to be. The v12 should be better than the v8, but the v8s got so good that task was almost impossible. At the end of the day arguing which is better is stupid as arguing about the Z06 being better than the 430, who really cares? If you have a 430 enjoy it, if you have a 599 I KNOW you are enjoying it. Both cars are great is one better though? IMHO, depends on the driver and what that person wants out of the car. Now I know that sounds like a cop out, but humans have different tastes. So a 599 may be a better car to me, but to you it could be a POS compared to the light and agile 430.
