Badmotorfinger is my favorite. That album blew me away. Superunknown is also excellent, but it didn't have the "fresh" feel the former had for me.

I don't especially like Down on the Upside. The only song I like is Blow up the outside world (I think I got the title right, it's been a while).

On the DVD there is a documentary behind them going there and some of the locals knew exactly who they were. In fact, they even knew the words to some songs.

Trust me, having a father who fled the regime drives home the disdain I have for Fidel...

If you are ever in South Florida during one of our Ferrari drives you can ride with me. I am sure you would like the music selection. I thought CD's would never wear out, but my old Temple of the dog has played at least 500 times in my office. I have to pick up a new Superunknown since I gave my old copy to my little sister.

Think I have 3 copies of Superunkown... probably was the most played CD I had until I started using digital music / burned cds.

I'm lovin' this thread. In my opinion, the most underrated album from that era was Screaming Trees "Sweet Oblivion". Every song is great--we saw them live and they rocked, too. Pick that one up as well.

Tough call. I have BM, SU and DOTUS. Every album has a bunch of great great songs. I took the best and made a cd. Its somewhere?!!

I dont really like the Temple of the Dog cd. Just Hunger Strike. Cant get into the rest. Never understood why because I liked Pearl Jam and SoundGarden at the time they made that cd.

I saw Soundgarden years ago in NY at the Roseland. Was one of the worst shows I ever saw. I was so disappointed. They sounded "off" all night.

What saved the night for me was this skinny, old dude with long gray hair and a ripped up, faded SoundGarden t shirt puking up downstairs in the coat area and then running back and forth "skiing" in it. Ill never forget that to this day. One of the funniest things I ever saw. (not the funniest though)

You had to be there. Every girl was grossed out and every guy was screamin' , "YYEEAAHHHHH!!!!" cheering the guy on and he was just riding with the attention.

Although Badmotorfinger is superlative, I think the earlier albums are well worth your time and money. They also put out cool stuff on their EP's with SST and Sub-Pop (like thier cover of "Come Together"), but a lot of that is on UltramegaOK. I'd start with Badmotorfinger and work your way both forward and backward in time. If it's Chris Cornell's voice that brought you to the band, the opening of "Loud Love" will blow your mind. I'd buy them in this order:
    Badmotorfinger
    Louderthanlove
    Down on the Upside
    Superunknown
    UltramegaOK

I don't know what's on the A-sides, that might help you decide which albums to buy.

The original intro is pretty ridiculous. Obviously Cornell's voice has changed a lot over the years, but they still covered Loud Love a few times in the past two tours.

With the vocal difference it simply changes the song. Makes it rougher, but not necessarily in a bad way.

The above link is to a lot of live things they have done. Not the best performances I have seen from them, but some are great. Just keep in mind these are all done before he quit smoking and regained some elasticity and clarity.

Also note that one of the vids is them covering Loud Love...enjoy!

2nd the Superunknown disc. Classic stuff there.

The new band, Audioslave is one of the best bands out right now. Hopefully they go on tour again soon! When they were here in Calgary for a gig, a friend of mine ran into Cornell and Tom Morello just by chance and said that they both were the nicest and most down to earth guys. Got pics/autographs from both!

New Album, Revelations due out Sept. 5th.

Although they said they don't have any immediate plans to tour. But, the cool thing is that Cornell is about to record his second solo album and might tour for that one.

Word seems to be either an AS or Cornell tour Nov. or Dec.

Can't wait. Original Fire sounds pretty damned good.

Chris Cornell on tour in a small club venue would be amazing.

From a 3 song acoustic set for VH1 without the other band members, so the album version is sure to be a lot different.

But vocally, his voice is the strongest it has ever been with Audioslave.

Well folks, I got my hands on the entire album Revelations a week in advance! It is very funk oriented and has some blues intermixed. A lot more like their debut album with plenty of rock and no 'weaker' songs that some people didn't care for with the second album Out of Exile.

I'll post a link to one song which is a PERFECT example of how I think rock should be. They represent it well in an age of whining. Try to listen closely to the lyrics. Cornell isn't the easiest to understand, but the song's meaning is cool.

I am uploading the file now and will post a link in a few minutes. Man this song ROCKS!

Buy this album Sept 5th :D

    Any thoughts on this song?

They aren't. Five years ago producer Rick Ruben arranged for Chris Cornell(formerly of Soundgarden) to have a jam session with the remaining members of Rage Against the Machine(minus frontman Zack). They clicked and formed a new band, Audioslave.

And Audioslave will be releasing their 3rd album, Revelations, on Sept. 5th.

Some people want them to either be Soundgarden or Rage, but they are a unique venture moving on in their own direction. But there are obvious elements of the previous bands that are recognizeable. Nice to have the harder sound of Rage with the ridiculous vocals that Chris Cornell is capable of.

Ok, so these days Cornell is solo and just set off on a small club tour. He had this ridiculously amazing performance for Yahoo the other day.

    http://music.yahoo.com/promo-31904706

    Setlist

    Outshined (Soundgarden)
Poison Eye (Carry On solo album due out in June)
    What You Are (Audioslave)
    Burden in my Hand (Soundgarden)
Can't Change Me (solo album Euphoria Morning)
Billie Jean (Carry On solo album due out in June)
Arm Around Your Love (Carry On solo album due out in June)
No Such Thing (Carry On solo album due out in June)
    Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden)

Billie Jean is interesting. In interviews he basically said he did it on a quasi dare with his wife, lol

And here is a performance of Hunger Strike from Temple of the Dog that was recorded two days ago http://youtube.com/watch?v=HqOFV1c8_Z0
