    How common is this problem?

My mechanic says he's seen it many times before.
Am doing a rebuild for a leak right now at 5500 miles.

    TIA!

Water pump seals die more from sitting than from use so it is not altogether uncommon on Ferrari's in general. It is the same pump on a 355 and 456 and it is not considered a problem area. The seal itself is a very good design and is used as a retrofit on other models pumps. Regular coolant changes and regular use are the best thing for waterpump seals.

What is a normal price in USD to do a water pump rebuild?

    Thanks!
