How frequent are these cars in your countries? 'Cause these are typical hungarian "luxury" cars.

These are very common but most people can't afford them. They seem to be the middle class high end cars. It depends on where you live mostly. In New York, you'll see more high end cars than say Boise Idaho.

No. People will still be able to know the words since no other words are found without the apostrophes and still spelled the same way, it's just unusual for me to see them missing.

I think so that your father moved to America because of the hungarian politics scene? In the 50'-60's more than one million hungarian people moved to the USA. I think they making a good choice with the states.

    close.

my grandfather (i never had chance to meet) was a high ranking military official in the hungarian govt. he was forced to join the nazi military...essentially given no choice. it was described to me as very, very bad to the extent that my fathers oldest brother was given a box w/ a grenade in it...my father saw his brother die. he has never really talked about it to me but i know it has never left his mind.

the family effectively left all they had (from all the pictures i have seen, they lived as royalty) and escaped to venezuela. my father eventually came to states to attend college. he has been here since.

in the early 90's, he and his brother went back to hungary for the first time to see if there was a chance to reclaim their family estate. it was not to be however. the trip was very important to my father in any event as i think there may have been a closure element that far exceeded the value of reclaiming the property.

a sad but powerfull story. i have met others w/ similar stories since.

sorry for such a heavy story peter. i have never been to hungary but it calls me often. i will eventually make the trip as i feel that more than my want, is my need to go. with some luck, i may be able to go back with my father so that i can better see and understand an important part of my family history. maybe i can look you up if i make the trip someday?

    best,

Hungarian would be the language. Both of my parents escaped from Hungary in 56 during the revolution. They both eventually made it into Canada, and then immigrated (legally by the way) into the U.S. Luckily, both my brother and I were born in the U.S., but my sister was unlucky and was born in Canada (that's a joke). I went to Hungary when I was about 10 years old and don't remember a ton about it. I missed an opportunity to go back with my folks last year for the 50th Anniversary of the Revolution. I think I am going to regret that for a long time. I don't remember seeing any women that looked like some of the posts here....maybe when I was 10, I just didn't notice.
