Found some very intersting pictures on caradisiac.com.
the text says something allong the line of: the car is a replica but by making this he wanted to show Ferrari lovers and more particular F40 - people see that a roadster is a possibility he doesn't kown the base or motarisation or anything that goes on under the bonnet. more or less
I never knew it was a replica, but then again I have only seen the pic of it in the tent. I gotta build me one of those one day...guess I getter start looking for a crashed f40. Be a lot chaeper than a 333sp.
This is not a replica, it is a real F40 with the correct motor. The first owner was a Belgian Jean Blaton.
F-40 Engine - LM specs - more than 700HP. Custom chassis and body. Made for Jean Blaton, ex-Francorchamps/Ecurie Nationale Belge pilot. Project car for a little serie. Only one made. At the same time they made a very special 348LM prototype that was auctionned the same day at the Poulain-Le Fur auction in Paris. More infos : Prototype was made in 1993 Base car was a F40 LM IMSA. Assembly was made at the Tony Gillet factory (ex-F1 driver and builder of the "Vertigo"). Electronic injection Weber-Marelli IAW. 2 turbos IHI with 2 intercoolers Behr, pressure : 2.5 bars. Power : 760 HP at 7 800 rpm Gearbox : Enforced Hewland 5-Gears + reverse (Crabots). Weight : 800 Kgs. Wheels : Speedline 17" with GoodYear Tires. Max speed : 360 Kmh. Car was auctionned as "Jean Blaton prototype" Not Sold at €180000 Cars Collection: Jean Blaton and Mauriès Collection, Artcurial - Briest - Poulain Le Fur - Paris (13th February 2005). Jean Blaton aka "Beurlys" was a famous Belgian pilot (Third at Le Mans 1967 on a 330P4).
So its almost impossible to get one ... Found ONE picture: http://f.hatena.ne.jp/images/fotolife/c/caprin/20060924/20060924104459.jpg Someone in 1997 races with the 348LM on the Le Mans 24 hours race, thats the other thing i've found. Finished 11th place.
Nope, it's not this one. It is chassis #ZFFKA35B000082881 - 1991 Known as Ferrari "348 Francorchamps" Red with yellow stripe. not sold at 50000 (sold after the auction at 45000 ).
This is a real F-40 IMSA, look at these pics taken during the building of the car. You can see the original F-40 bodyshell removed and cut to make the spyder. Sorry, these are crappy pics taken way before the digicams era. http://img172.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=91459_web16lz9_122_474lo.jpg http://img11.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=91460_web00ia9_122_463lo.jpg http://img16.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=91469_web10tu5_122_1154lo.jpg http://img160.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=91473_web04nl5_122_554lo.jpg http://img18.imagevenue.com/view.php?image=91464_web03ln0_122_1194lo.jpg And this is an F-40 similar (made by Kroymans from a "stock" F-40) to the donor car actually for sale in Belgium. As these cars aren't made for 24H races, they haven't frontlights. http://img175.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=91956_070405143753ls1_122_516lo.jpg
Is that clay they're laying down? (for a mold I'm guessing?) that's awesome, nice old school renderings too
Found some blurry pictures on the web F40 Barquette http://carpics.free.fr/PalaisdesCongres110205/DSC00473_redimensionner.JPG http://carpics.free.fr/PalaisdesCongres110205/DSC00479_redimensionner.JPG http://carpics.free.fr/PalaisdesCongres110205/DSC00474_redimensionner.JPG 348 Francorchamps http://carpics.free.fr/PalaisdesCongres110205/DSC00495_redimensionner.JPG http://carpics.free.fr/PalaisdesCongres110205/DSC00504_redimensionner.JPG http://carpics.free.fr/PalaisdesCongres110205/DSC00496_redimensionner.JPG
I think "Yes!" too - on both accounts. However, I do think if this F40 barchetta were red or even black that more people would really love it. >8^) ER
