I wasn't commenting on your post, rather a later one by relating my personal experiances with each. Irrespective of that, I do agree with your post by in large save your last two lines. Being an avid 'driver,' I just cannot stand the driving dynamics most SUVs. You have to understand, my defination of 'good handling' has nothing to do with how fast you can go in a turn, but rather how precise and communicative the steering is. BMWs and the peppers are the best by far in this (as is the BMW designed Rover MKIV). In the middle ground are your Benzes, followed by your steel Rovers, then Lexus and the like. At the bottom are your American trucks. Good lord you probably could drive over small animals and not feel anything.
Yesterday, I rode in an 06 RR, and I have to say, I've never been in an SUV that delivered a ride like that. Too bad they give so much trouble.
Maybe, but Ferrari's are mostly weekend toys whereas an SUV is usually bought as a daily driver and a RR is not good for that...
what about those of us who live and/or work were road are not all in the best shape? My dad ran mines for 30 year and while he mainly used Pick-ups five seat SUV COUlD make cents however that being said for most everyone who buys an SUV a Pick-up or a minivan or a Awd sedan would work best. A RR would be nice if you have to drive back country road by day and take a date to a top club at night however upper level pick up such as the Mark LT are very nice done?
One of my friends has a ML 63, while not the same class as a RR IMO it was impressive performance wise...Have you looked at the ML's or are they to small for your needs?
I have both GL450 an RRover SC. While the GL is a nice car it doesnt compare to the RR in terms of ride and interior comfort. The GL interior feels smaller and is not very luxurious in comparison to the RR. They both acelerate about the same but handling is better in the GL. I grew to dislike all of that leather looking stuff that smells bad in the GL as well
