Haha, my dads best friend that lives up the street has one and that's all he uses. He puts all his errands on a list and lets it build up because he only leaves the neighborhood Monday of every other week. It's kind of funny really, it's like living at the Four Seasons.

Ya it's been a real pain, I talked to my dad today and he last night he was out at dinner and the actuator (i think) broke and spilled out all the transmission oil. It was flat-bedded away again this morning. It's just a joke anymore. A new auto QP would be an option if the F/M Service here in SD hadn't pissed off my dad so much.

you would think, especially at dealerships where they aren't very high volume and the customers they have are willing to spend hundreds of thousands on their inventory, the dealership would be more then happy to accomodate any and all problems. sorry to hear about this bro

I can second this notion Jeff offers. I'm 25y/o but my Gparents have an '02 last of the line Silver Seraph that they've owned from new and now has right at 20k miles on it. I've personally put at least 4-5k of those miles on it including an extended weekend trip of about 1400 miles over 4 days. Also my neighbor at our beach house in HHI has an '05 Phantom and '00 Arnage red-label and he is, shall I say, liberal with letting me use them. Point is, they are absolutely phenomenal machines. They blow all the Germans out of the water, the torque of the Phantoms and Arnages in particular is just ungodly. Waftability, as they say, is all there in all the right places. The fit and finish of the true Crewe cars are second to none, the smells of the wood and leather is still strong as ever in our Seraph and that's impressive because I drive it a lot with the windows down and roof open. Plus there's something very visceral and gratifying about looking down the long hood at the silver sheen of the Flying Lady. Always brings a smile.
If it has any effect on the decision, only the Brits will really turn heads. No one's going to rubberneck over any other sedans (S-class, 7 series, A8, S8, XJs, Lexus-Schmexus) when they know they'll see 3 more at the next light. But a Rolls/Bentley (especially the non-VW infused models) with the full British proportions always has that "Oh my God" effect. I would choose a 2000 Arnage red-label w/ 20k on it over a new '07 S600 off the showroom floor every day of the week. And if I were given the S600, I'd sell it and buy the Arnage.
One last little bit, Bentley Certified Pre-Owned will often warranty their later model cars for up to 6 years/ and 50-75k miles bumper to bumper. Costs a bit extra but if you can't afford a hiccup it might be worth it. There again, if you truly can't afford a hiccup, then you probably can't... Ya know.
I remember a print ad Bentley ran in Robb Report some years ago, and it was very well put. They were comparing just such a dilemma as the original postee's: Two people decide to each buy a luxury sedan, one buys a brand spanking-new 12-cylinder Mercedes S-class, and the other for about the same money buys a used Arnage or Seraph, but then consider their positions a year later. The one guy has last year's Mercedes, and the other... well, he still has a Rolls/Bentley :) Just my 2 1/2 cents worth.

Thanks for your thoughts Josh. I am pretty much 100% convinced that 2005-07 Arnage is the way to go, I am just trying to see how relalible they are, my dad just doesn't want another nightmare like we've had with the QP.

My Uncle has an Arnage, no problems with his either except two things that weren't reliability issues: the check engine light came on one time because the fuel cap wasn't on tight enough. And a mouse chewed through some wiring in the engine bay that had to be fixed. I have only driven it a few minutes, but they are nice to drive and ride in and very fast for how much they weigh.

Here's a pic with my wife standing next to it:

Here is an update for you guys....

Turns out we won't be getting an Arnage after all. F/M San Diego has really stepped up to help us out. They say of the whole Maserati service department there we have the biggest file, and they really feel bad and would like to keep us as customers. We are just going to order a new QP Automatic and Maserati North America and Maserati Italy together will cut us a deal for the trade up, and put us at the top of the wait list. So all is well, and I commend the F/M San Diego guys for stepping up after we've had such bum luck with the car. :)

Hey Chase, best of luck with the new QP Auto. I have to admit they are very beautiful sport saloons. I know a guy here in Greenville has a silver '06 and he uses it as a daily driver, and a guy down in Hilton Head Island also has an '05 Bordeaux... same thing... daily driver. Sounds like your fam's is a lemon and I'm glad F/M is making it right. Still, maybe an Arnage should be in your future, haha. Josh

Speaking of Bentleys, I know of a nice 87 Bentley that an owner is ready to part with. He says its time for a new "toy" color is beige over beige. Just passed inspection.

My dad owns an arnage, hes a big bentley fan, as far as i know its been a great car (2002). He drives it to work every day and from the times ive been in it it seems like a great car, smooth with tons of torque to spare which makes for a very smooth ride, it actualy feels really sporty for a "limosine" Interior is beautifully made and the whole car feels solid and the options list is endless. Never driven it myself but i should imagine as a daily driver the size could be a problem but reliablility?the engine only fully runs in at a rediculously high mileage so engine reliability is not a problem at all, however as a daily driver to work probably not best to go for really.

My dad has an Arnage and hasnt really had any problems. He used to have a Brooklands (old model) and it had a ton of problems, but the Arnage has been good. Im sure it would make a great daily driver, but he doesent use it as one.

A good friend of mine has a 2003 Arnage T and he has never had a problem with it. He drives it often, and services it when needed. He is actually planning on selling it now because he is buying a Phantom. I believe he is only looking to get $120k for it... if anyone is interested I can put you in touch with him.
