REALLY!?!?! ...thats odd Well it looks like he hasn't got the new tips on yet for some reason or another. Got any more pics from VdE 07
I was looking at the amazing shots of the P4/5 at www.swisscarsightings.com. Most specifically this one: http://www.swisscarsightings.com/concorsovillaeste2007_01/Ferrari%20P4-5%20Pininfarina%20028.jpg Why is the cover over the windshield wiper was made of a clear plastic rather than carbon or a body color piece? Does it serve a functional purpose, like improving view from the front? I could stare at this car for days and the grin would never leave my face. Thanks
I think - and please tell me if Im wrong, Jim - that the wiper-cover is purely aesthetic, and harkens back to the hood-covers on old racers of the 50's. I personally thought of the 1959 250 Testa Rossa. One of many that have that addition to the hood I think this treatment on the P4/5 is a nice aesthetic touch. Best Jon
It has been really a pleasure to have a little chat with you in front of your P4/5. Thank you for your kindness and willingness. And compliments for the car. It has been my first experience in front of it and it's really wonderful. Hi Just back from a great week. The new Exhaust is being Fabricated and will be installed after the Historic Targa. The wiper cover is required by law (pedestrian impact safety) and Jon is correct that our clear one is a tip of the hat to the TR carb covers. I was very happy that we took home the trophy. The next morning we got up early and drove to the Factory which was an amazing experience. We had a very nice visit with JT and others and they took us to lunch at the Cavallino Restaurant while hordes of Factory workers had a look at P 4/5. It was a very special day. We then drove back to Pininfarina. 400 miles of Driving through God's Country. Fantastico!! Photo's to follow in a few days. Best
Thanks for the update and congrats on the trophy. Can't wait to see how the new exhaust tips turn out.
Congratulations on the trophy. Its very exciting. Out of curiosity, how many miles have do you have on that P4/5? If you don't mind answering the question.
one of the things that always makes me smile is the pride and enthusiasm that everyone at Ferrari takes in their work, from the most basic laborer to the top of the food chain, and the respect with which the company management treats them. it seems very much like a big extended family. it is wonderful that even though these workers likely had nothing to do with P4/5 they get the chance to check the car out, and that they are so eager to do so.
2400+ Will put another 1000 on her in the Historic Targa/Giro di Sicilia. I'm also happy to report that she will be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Hey Jim... Do you think you will ever bring the P4/5 to South Africa for a visit? my garage will always have space for it while you're here
It was nice to see it ! I cant say it enough... Jim I absolutly love this car! IMO the P4/5 is the best representation of what ferrari is and has been. It is the perfect homage to the marque as plays off of so many ferraris of old, yet still is uniquely its own beauty. This is a true representation of the classic Ferrari in a modern era. Cant wait to see the reworked exhaust... It will fit right in and add to the already beautyfull lines(I will have to update my 3d model aswell now).
