I parked my 85 308 on an angle (right side sat lower) over the weekend and found gas dripping from the rocker panel, just infront of the rear tire? On a level surface, I don't have a leak.

The only thing unusual was the gas tanks were both full, What leaking?

Maybe the heat made and the angle you parked at made the gas go into the tubes above the tanks(vent tubes) and they maybe leaking.

+1. There are vents on top of the tank, and a breather tank above it IIRC, and hoses running to the charcoal cannister. Sounds like one or more of the hoses on top of the tank are leaking. Not a good situation. I'd strongly urge you to pull the wheel and well liner and look at the top of the tank. And if those are leaking, chances are the rest are not far behind, especially if you haven't changed them. Now is a good time to get your hands dirty, get in there and change them all.

Also, aside from the mentioned hoses, the tank itself could be leaking. They can rub through by bouncing against the fireall,or one of the hold-straps, or some other area. Mine rubbed a hole up near the top of the front of the tank. The fuel leaked out between it and the firewall, and stained the floor black because of that weird factory coating.

Maybe one of the hose connections on the tank is cracked?

In my case, the right tank was removed and repaired by someone who knows how to weld aluminum gas tanks.

I would replicate the leak and check the tank, and hoses and try to pinpoint the leak.

    Don't drive the car.

This was the first time I have had the tanks full, and it was on a slope, I actually was glad to see it leak there under those conditions.

I had put the fuel and water hoses off, but after seeing the leak, the fuel hoses have just moved to the top of the maintenance list!

The timing belts just became #2 on the list

Don't fill it Full........just put enough in.........

I never jam my systems full to the pump handle 'cut off' it's just a bad idea....

It holds 16 gallons total and once you use your particular gas guage awhile you know what it 'needs"....

    Besides at $3 a gallon I'm gonna climb onto a Ducati.......LOL!

I try not to have the fuel up to the top of the neck, I watch the level closly and usually stop after the pump clicks off once or twice. I don't like having the fuel run down the side of the car washing off my wax job.

I agree with Dom, I replaced all hoses two days ago. I smelled gas when turning left with full tank. The hoses looked just like in Dom's pictures.
    Just do it!
