People who can't seem to finish a sentence...

Agree on ending a sentence with dots, it's often like trailing off a converation-in-progress and walking away.

For me, using three dots in-sentence simply indicates a verbal pause of a second or two...I do it all the time.

 

I'm not sure if this thread was intended as a beef towards people who speak like that in person, or just people who do it on the forum. As somebody who sometimes ends posts with "...", I don't see the harm in it as long as it's a complete sentence that can be understood. I usually do it when expressing something that could be further elaborated upon. Of course, I don't actually SPEAK that way.

A certain person in my family has this habit. Not only that but they also tend to start on one subject and skip right to another with no discernable link. It tends to leave everyone shaking their heads wondering how we got there!

Seriously, I do it ALL the time, and the reason usually is there is
more to say, but sometimes you want to lead folks into a conversation
as opposed to posting your entire thoughts all at once....
You want to see how folks react to something before you continue on...

 

I've been finding myself more often detecting the way people just seem to ramble on and on towards an indeterminate destination long after their point has been made but they seem to feel like they still have to keep talking on and on for no discernable reason that anyone could ...

They get really annoyed when I start to respond before they've run out of momentum.

It also gets annoying when they have to take a running start at a converstation before getting around to the point.

People now seem to handle a sentence break the same way they deal with stop signs: They gradually slow as they approach it, drift right through it, and then slowly grind back up to speed.

"Begin at the beginning, continue until you get to the end, and then stop."
