I know a guy that has had both and all I know is that he obviously prefers the 360.

I was thinking the same thing...

At the end of the day, a Cayman is still a Cayman, and a 360 is a 360... do you want to turn heads, or not ?

Also.........I would go with the 360 Anthony. :):)
Awesome machine!! Looks ALOT better than the Cayman S IMO. Also, the 360's are nearing their lowest price depreciation point here in Aus, so you will not lose much money on it, if you keep it immaculate, which I am sure you will. :):)
If you buy a Cayman S new, it will be worth nearly half what you paid for it in 5 years time. That $70K+ you will lose on the Cayman S, you WOULD not spend to repair/maintain that 360 in the same 5 year period, if you understand where I am coming from? :)
But buy whichever car makes you most happiest and enjoy it mate. :)
I know which car I would buy. ;);)

PAP makes a good point. IMO the Cayman can't hold a candle to the Ferrari.

Also, if you are one of those who likes attention, the Ferrari will be noticed.

My honest, first reaction upon first seeing this post was "You gotta be kidding!!" As much as I like the Cayman S I don't think that its really that close.

And again eluding to PAP 348's post. Ask yourself whar ownership will be like in four years time. That would influence me greatly as I like to keep cars a long time.

The Ferrari you SEE. The Cayman is invisible. That's the difference to me.

Buy the Ferrari. If you don't like it in a few years, sell it for about what you paid for it and buy a 3 years old Cayman for the same amount or less.

The Cayman is one of the few cars I know of where the hardtop version costs more than the convertible version. A Boxster (actually Boxster S) I think is the better buy than a Cayman S. Same mid-engine technology. Same handling. Lower price and great on sunny days. I think the reason the Cayman sells for more is because it is a new look and competes more directly with the 911 buyer.

The 360 is a great car. I used to own a titanium 2001 one. It has great performance and handling. And the body design has classic styling that will still look great over the years. I'd get the 360 for sure. And, if it doesn't already have one, think about putting a Tubi exhaust on it.

First, I actually got a good laugh when I read the title of this thread....I thought is there some exotic Cayman I am not aware of? Surely this person can not be talking about Porsche Cayman? I then thought maybe this person meant Carrera GT? Maybe it was a typo?

Then I read the thread....ok I know I have had 2 Gin and tonics this evening but is this a serious question?

    Dude....360 hands down!!!

But the purchase price is just 1/2 the question.
Can you afford to keep a 360 well maintained and on the road?

Is this question for real? Guy, go with the Cayman, you don't deserve to be a Ferrari owner!

    No need for the hostilities.:)
The Cayman has a beautiful shape, but is still depreciating in value. Wait several years and pick one up for a fraction.
For that money (and if I had that kind to spend right now) I would get the 360.
Get what you like. I've never had a Porsche, but wouldn't mind picking up a Cayman one of these days for my wife.

i had a boxster that i traded in for 348 spider. i used to love the boxster but 348 made it seem very ordinary. 360 vs cayman is like bringing a howitzer to a knife fight.

ok...i wont give you a hrd time, as I had a similar decision a few weeks ago.

I needed something i could drive "daily" and wanted alot of power. So I bought 996TT... After I did it...I love the car..but its still no 360.....

So now I decided to buy the 360 also (in adition to the 996tt). If you cant afford both at the same time, you probably cant afford the 360 by itself as the maintenace will get you, as will taking a hit on the mileage if you drive it "daily". If a warranty is even a concern for you..get the porsche, but dont do cayman.. get a turbo of some sort or youll de disapointed.
