    Maybe not for the purists amongst you, but replacing the old corrugated rubber intake pipe with this carbon fibre one is a pretty neat and cost effective mod if your old pipe is perished and needing renewed.

    The pipe is smother on the inside so the airflow is less interupted than with the rubber one ...... don't know if that makes much difference ?

    It's made by Carbonio in Canada and cost around $130 + shipping ....... and yes, it is real carbon fibre and comes with the hose couplings and stainless hose clips.

    Just refurbed the plenum chamber too and delighted with the result !

    It has appeared in a couple of threads on here before, I bought one about a year ago, only difference I changed my hose couplings for red.

    Ignore the nitrous lines they were removed last year

    Hi Pete

    I notice that you've done away with the lower flexi coupling which effectively means that the carbon pipe is a rigid fixture. There wont be much give on those hoses although admittedly they do look good.

    Surprised with the movement of the engine that the pipe hasn't fractured .... or even worse, cracked the trottle body ! Before I bought the carbon pipe I did a bit of research around the net and there were a number of mentions about this pipe being too rigid on other makes of car causing this type of damage.

    Just though I'd mention it.

    Are you going to the Autoitalia gig at Brooklands this Saturday ?

    I bought exact the same thing 6 months ago and planned to install it after I do an engine wash.

    I've read in several posts about this pipe that everyone seems to be worried about breaking something with this ridgid pipe. Has anyone had any issues on any Ferrari with this pipe in place? The CIS unit is rubber mounted and has some give, the couplings on either end of the pipe have some give and the dogbone/reaction rod preventing engine movement is pretty much right in line with the pipe. Oh, and the CIS box's pipe is hefty, to say the least.

    I have my engine cover off for a major service. I'm going to do some observations on engine movement under driving conditions before it goes back on and see what kind of movement there really is.

    I fitted mine about 6 months ago and no problems at all.........plus the fact it looks sooooooooo good!!!!

    I trimmed a bit off each end of mine with a Dremmel, there is plenty of play in it

    No I'm not I'll be busy around the house

    What red hose did you use on the pipe that connects the heads, if I'm right they should be flourolined, it does look a lot better than the black braided pipe, I was looking at Samco but its only available by the meter and about £45

    Samco do 2 different grades of this 19mm straight through hose ..... one is for water only and the other is fuel / oil resistant. As you say, they only sell it in meter lengths but it's still cheaper than replacing them with OEM ones at almost £30 each. Both of mine where perished.

    I've still got plenty of the hose left so if you want me to cut you a piece then PM me your address and I'll stick them in the post f.o.c.

    Franco, If you have nearly a meter of 19mm Samco flourolined (Oil & Fuel resistant) then I will buy the whole spare length from you, just let me know what you want for it

    I'm gonna replace the other two longer blow-by pipes too so will be using most of the remainder of the Samco pipe. The short pipes are only 3cms in length so should have enough to cut you 2 of short pieces if you want them.

    Not sure if it's flourolined but I did specify that it needed to be fuel/oil resistant when I ordered it ........ cost me £35 and I had to wait a couple of weeks to get it.

    Ok then. I am going to replace all my hoses for Samco hoses in the next few months, and I'm going to do exactly what you are hence why I was interested in the length, the main coolant hose is 40mm so Samco 38mm would be fine.

    £35 seems cheap for Flouro, where did you get it from, I think Demon Tweeks and most are similar at £45ish

    Okay, I am going to dispel the myth right here.

    Both silicone hose sections are NOT rigid. There is a good bit of flex and if you install it right, more than you ever need. How much do you think that the engine moves? It only has 1/8" to a 1/4" of clearance before it hits other things in the engine bay and we know it doesn't do that.

    Regardless, here's a fact. I watched my car under full acceleration (and subsequent deceleration) on the dyno and looked at the hose and how much movement there is. Well, I can tell you first hand that the movement is very little compared to how much the hose moves. And the whole reason to get that intake is to smooth the air flow, which isn't accomplished that well with the accordian flexi piece.

    Just my $.02.

    How did you get that intake manifold to look so damn pretty?? Did you strip, repaint and polish? Did you do it yourself? Looks great.
